To find this hot weather favourite massively over rated?

‘Beer gardens’ - I really don’t get the fuss. Drinking the overpriced booze but on an uncomfortable wooden bench. Don’t get me started on trying to eat with flies everywhere too.

I love a good, well kept beer garden. I wouldn't want to be indoors in great weather if I could be outside.

I don't go to them often because of the cost of drinks in a pub, but it is nice to get out of the house for a change of scene now and then.

Give me my back garden any day!

Means that when it’s time for you to have your bi-annual Sunday roast at your local pub or whatever, it’s still open because some of us have patronised the “overrated” beer garden in the summer.

I love a beer garden too! I went for an early friday evening glass of rosé with a friend last night and everyone was in such a good mood because of the weather. Everyone (well I appreciate not everyone) feels happier when the sun is out. It felt like we were on holiday.

Beer gardens are not created equally though. There are lovely ones with shade, cushions and lush greenery or there are picnic benches with wonky parasols that’s not quite big enough, in what is essentially a car park.

Totally agree! I don’t particularly like sitting in a pub garden that is just a concrete patch next to the road but I enjoy one in a decent sized green area.

Mind you, this “ heatwave” seems to be missing my area, it rained again yesterday evening and wasn’t very warm. It’s sunny so far though so fingers crossed! I had a lovely glass verandah fitted earlier this year so a few warm evenings would be great, I’ve got gin and mosquito coils ready and waiting!

Op how often do you go to the pub? Personally I'm out 2/3 times a week and if its hot there are a couple of really nice beer gardens to sit in. It's also great if you've got kids...they can play whilst you enjoy a cold drink.
One of my favs is in a valley outside of a 17th century pub with loads of tables, an outside stable door serving area. Great food and proper farm house cider. Swallows dart overhead, someone will ride a horse to the pub, Sundays there's music....what more do you want in life

You know not everyone has a garden?

Not really. The majority aren't well kept, tables are squished too close together and have been taken over by smokers and vapers. Funnily I don't mind smokers but vapers blow their smoke everywhere.

Maybe I've not experienced a decent beer garden!

I'm immuno-compromised and can currently only socialise out of doors unless everyone wears face masks. Beer gardens are wonderful!

Love drinks outside
Hate those wooden picnic table monstrosities where you have to bare your knickers just to get your leg over to sit on them
Hate wasps
Hate kids shrieking & screaming
Guess it’s my back garden every time then!

It’s the craic & atmosphere of a beer garden if it’s good!

I love my back garden. No children or dogs allowed!
