Historic by-election win sends message to Labour and SNP - Badenoch vs PM under pressure from Labour MPs and ministers to set timetable for exit. I was delighted that Andy Burnham won as opposed to other candidates, Had no idea about the other by election tbh, but the reporting of both has been very different. I’m hoping another win for Labour is a good thing, Obviously the unbiased BBC (and the Guardian) beg to differ. AIBU?

How is it historic. A labour candidate replaced a labour MP who stood (cough was forced to cough) down. So if I stood as a labour candidate in say North Somerset and won, that's pretty historic and that's what happened at the last election but I don't see you wanking Sadik off even if he's doing pretty great job.

I think @Fluffyowl00 means that this is the first time Conservatives have won a Westminster by-election in Aberdeen South in over 50 years. It was by a huge margin as well over 8000 more than the SNP is the historical part. Not sure how it’s been reported elsewhere but up here in Aberdeen its being reported a lot in the Scottish news

Sorry meant over 6000, not 8000 votes

😱 sorry for the multiple posts

Sounds more like a protest vote, given that the Conservatives want to boost the oil industry in a city that is losing 600 - 800 jobs a month and will do for years to come.

Not a mention in England because some labour has been is trying to come back and stabbing someone in the back

The BBC headline "Historic by-election win sends message to Labour and SNP - Badenoch" means they are reporting on something Badenoch has said.

And the Burnham win does put Starmer under real pressure - given the context.

I'm a Labour-supporting, Starmer-sympathizer, but do not see any issue here.
