Rude mum at cricket? WWYD?

First time bringing kids to cricket, there benches and tables everywhere. This woman who already has 5 chairs in her group comes up to my bench where I’m sitting and dumps her picnic blanket and kids bottles. I left if got 15 mins then I asked her politely if she can move her things to her chairs as I’m waiting for friends to join us. She told me to chill! In a ready rude way

Would the polite thing to do would be do you mind if I leave this here. Rather than dump everything next to me

What do you think you might be unreasonable about?

It's not clear.

MrsCarmelaSoprano · 19/06/2026 18:55

What happened, did she move her things?

concertinacornflake · 19/06/2026 18:57

This doesn't seem worth any brain space.
I'd probably have ignored her bottles.

Not clear if her items would have prevented your friends from sitting down. If they did, just move them to one side once your friends arrived, if not, just leave them.

Doesn't sound like a great start. Did you really have friends coming? I imagine you sounded rude asking her to move her things and this led to her telling you to chill.

Sounds like the hot weather got to you.
