Sports Direct do plain navy Sondico socks in a mens 12 plus. You can order online I think.

I have a DS who was the same! (Now in a 13 as an adult)j

Edited to say, they are £5 a pair, so not ridiculously priced

These go up to 14.5. We're in a similar position with size 12 feet at 14yrs, it gets very expensive!

Brasso10 · 18/06/2026 20:39

Thank you so much but they have to be unbranded so totally plain or they get negative marks in their planner

Primark have some very stretchy socks. I have size 10 feet but also have massive water retention in one leg so my left foot often swells up to almost twice the size of the right one. My Primark size 9-12 socks still fit on the giant foot at its worst even when I can barely squeeze it into a size 12 shoe.

Sadly we can’t have any logo or name on anything has to be school logo socks - which ends at size 10 - or plain navy with nothing on it. Which seems to be a unicorn! But I won’t have him in detention for the wrong sock! 😂

You can get plain football socks at sports direct. My DS has size 12 clown feet so I buy all of his socks from there.

Thank you but I can’t find any without a brand on in size 12 navy and that’s automatic negative points and 2x means detention which is ridiculous over a sock I agree! But what I’m trying to work with!

Put this back on the school, ask them where you can source size 12 and above navy non-branded socks. Put it in writing to them to ask their advice as you don't want your son in detention for having the wrong socks. They need to talk to whoever provides their uniform. Cutting off boy's socks at size 10 seems short sighted. My sons were size 10 and 11 for their final years at school.

Another vote for this. We had a similar problem with school blazers with our eldest, who at 15/16 was 6' 6" with a rugby player's build, and needed a 46" chest. Eventually school conceded that a black suit jacket would be acceptable.

WellThatIsABitMad · 18/06/2026 20:52

Email the school office and explain -
as someone else suggested, ask them where you can buy these elusive socks.

lanthanum · 18/06/2026 20:53

I agree that you should ask the school to tell you where you can buy them.

Would wearing the Nike ones inside out work?

Brightbluesomething · 18/06/2026 20:53

Mine needed plain navy ones for school and that’s where I bought them from. When it says sondico branding, it’s on the toe. So you don’t see it when wearing football boots.

@Brasso10 absolutely do this. I did the same thing when DDs school were bitching about her black trousers. I asked them to find me something with a 22" waist with a 34" inside leg, not form fitting for under £30 a pair. They couldnt (or wouldnt) and suddenly the trousers I had found (which fitted but were deemed 'too fitted') were fine 🤷‍♀️

Sports Direct do a totally plain pair Sondico 12 navy
Sondico Football Socks Plus Size
Literally actually search for that in the Sports Direct search bar and they will come up.
I feel your pain - Just finishing year 8 5f 10, size 10 feet, so not quite as big as your lad but not far off!

soonami · 18/06/2026 21:06

Sports direct socks are completely plain so they’ll be fine

Brasso10 · 18/06/2026 21:59

Thank you so much. First post and very grateful for the help and solidarity!!

If you can’t find them in his size, why don’t you cut the toe section off so he could wear regular socks with the football socks over the top, if that makes sense?
