AIBU to think the defence argument in this sentencing was appalling

Preston Davey sentencing of absolute trash.
The defence saying shouldn’t be whole life tariff as no intent to kill just sexual. REALLY. In my eyes that seems almost worse as this abuse could have continued for years. AIBU.

The defences job, no matter how awful the crime, is to represent their client.

Even if it feels morally reprehensible.

Agreed horrid job to defend such people but this isn’t about defending him this is about the actual sentence.

Well in the case of sentencing, I suppose it’s down to intent.

Albeit I agree, do the sentencing rules actually reflect the severity of the crime. It is a terrible case and there is no punishment great enough - I think everyone in the country probably agrees on that.

I expect the defence secretly hopes the judge ignores the plea for a lesser sentence.
