How is it? Still packed or calming down a bit? 20th onwards?
Staying with family but would like to see places and be able to park?

First week of September better?

Also, weather wise? (From abroad so no idea)

Its busy as you approach the bank holiday - thats the final busy, busy, time.

Where are you planning on staying?

But dont worry. Ive lived here for 35 years and my other 24 were in a Devonian tourist town. Im still alive to tell the tale!

UK weather. A complete surprise...to us all.

If you dont have to choose August for children or your own job, definitely go for September.

Still hella busy. Weather unpredictable- at all times of year, really - May and June usually the best but not this year! Sorry.

I'd go for September.

August often rains a lot and also very busy.

nochance17 · 17/06/2026 22:47

Very busy all through August. September after the kids have gone back is a lovely time to go, still warm (hopefully) and much easier to travel around and park.

Very busy in August, September will be quieter.

For parking use one of the parking apps as people rent out spaces privately.

Weather cannot be predicted, but it’s always a stunning place to visit.

The August Bank Holiday can be as early as 25th or as late as 31st August. When it’s late it falls in the same week that schools go back, so families are less likely to book for that week. This year it’s 31st so should quieten down significantly after the bank holiday.

During the first week of September for England.

Our school ( Cornwall) go back on 3rd September. It's usually nice weather at the beginning of September here. Newquay will be a bunfight during the Bank Holiday.

HelpMeGetThrough · 18/06/2026 06:03

August will be well busy, especially the bank holiday.

As to the weather, toss a coin. The weekend was cracking. Was sweating my wotsits off in the garden cutting the hedge, then chilled with a few drinks. Ever since Monday, it’s been rain and fog, even put the heating on at one point yesterday.

September will be less busy, it’s when the “silver surfer” coach parties arrive. Weather will still be a coin toss.
