AIBU to ask if three weeks of spotting on the pill is normal?

Shamelessly posting here for advise.

I'm 49, periods are still regular maybe 3 days either side of due date.
My dh booked a holiday and my period was due on day 2 so I went to doc to get tablets to delay it for the duration of the holiday.
She recommended I went back on the pill as it would be easier to remember to take 1 tablet a day rather than 3 for 17days . So 2 months ago I went back on it, had a bleed and then took the 2nd pack but need to continue with the 3rd pack back to back.
So was 3 days before I was due on and I had some blood when I wiped after the loo so thought I was coming on. I haven't actually got a full on period, but each day when I wipe toilet paper has blood in it. I've been able to get away with panty liners that don't actually have anything on them rather then the big bulky pads I'd normally need for a day or 2.
3 weeks later I'm still getting some blood when I wipe. Will I wait and see if I get a full on period as I've just finished the pill and will be on the 7day gap where you would normally get a bleed or will I check in with the doc??

I can't answer your question directly as I'm not sure when your holiday is and when you plan to come off it but I would flag that

  1. your body is not reacting in the way you were expecting for the aim you wanted to achieve I.e. you can't guarantee you won't bleed on holiday
  1. You don't need to take up your doctors suggestion of using the pill to delay your periods unless you want to - it's fine to go back and stay it isn't working and you just want the period delaying pill unless it is medically unsuitable.

My periods and bleeds have never been predictable on or off contraception so its possible yours will also be hard to predict and therefore regulate.

Sorry my holiday was 3 weeks ago and I'm home a week and still getting blood when I wipe. I finished the pill 2 days ago and I'm on the 7 day gap now between packets when you would normally get your period. So I'm due my period this week.
I'm not continuing with the pill, I just went on it for the holiday.

@CheddarBiscuit thank you for your reply
