I have dark brown hair with salt and pepper greys.
I don’t want to leave it naturally to grey as it is aging.
I have tried colouring it my own colour and it’s too dark and makes me look pale.
I have also tried doing it a bit lighter but it comes out browny gingery not too nice.
I can’t afford highlights or salon treatments so what do other people with salt and pepper hair do.
Also have quite course curly hair. I’d say it’s about 30% grey now.

I have curly hair. About 3 years ago I stopped colouring it. I love it. It’s not entirely grey but a lot of it is.
I don’t care if anyone thinks it’s aging. Aging is nothing to be ashamed of and I’m grateful I’ve been here long enough to be grey.

When you did it yourself did you use permanent or a semi?
Semi is far more subtle over greys.
Or if you can’t afford but also don’t want highlights got could just get the greys covered at a salon if you don’t feel confident yourself, it’s a fraction of the price of blonding services.

At first I did it semi but it didn’t cover the grey so I had to use permanent.

Start wearing lots of hats? 😄

Honestly I think you should learn to love your salt and pepper hair! It sounds cool to me. A bad dye job will be far more aging anyway.

I have curly hair and started going grey early on. I used to henna mine but made a pledge to give up at 50. My grey and white was mostly at the front to start with. Anyway my message is - Go for it! Curls are great for grey hair

Would having some sandy blonde added help. I would go to someone who specialises in grey and see what they suggest. A mix of blonde and lighter brown could be nice
