For thinking ASDA Rewards is a bit rubbish...

... or am I missing something obvious?

I've recently moved house. Sainsbury's was the only supermarket in my last town and was thus was my regular supermarket for 12 years.

I got used to building up Nectar points every time I shopped. I also have a Tesco Clubcard and Morrisons More Card which, as far as I understand it, seem to do the same.

In my new house, the nearest large supermarket is ASDA. I have never shopped there on a regular basis previously, but figured I'd give it a go and downloaded the Rewards App.

I'm pretty disappointed. I've done multiple large weekly shops since signing up and my 'Cashpot' still contains £0.

As it stands today, the only available option on the app for me to collect money in my Cashpot is to get bitten by an insect and ask an ASDA Pharmacy team member for advice. Then I get £2.

An insect bite?! Nectar just gave me points for buying cakes and bananas and loo roll.

I could resume weekly shopping at Sainsbury's, Tesco or Morrisons but these are all a longer drive from my house. On a day-to-day basis we have a Tesco Express that I walk to.
Is it time to join the modern world and embrace deliveries instead?

Is ASDA Rewards rubbish? Or am I just really out of touch with supermarket rewards schemes? 🤣

It has phases of being good. Either you get a certain amount if you spend so much in a month, or you get to spin a wheel and win some cash pot money. Just not all the time. Don't discount it - check every month or so what's happening with it.

BeSunnyLemonSheep · 16/06/2026 07:38

I think it’s the best one! We do our weekly shop there so our cashpot adds up quickly.

I had £40 off my shop in May due to vouchers, and in April they sent me a £20 email voucher for no reason 🤷‍♀️

Whiski · 16/06/2026 07:41

Yes it’s crap.
It changed. You used to get points just for shopping but now you have to complete task.
I haven’t had any points since January so I phoned them up as I thought something happened.
They told me on the phone that it’s changed now. They have me £3 worth of points as it’s the first time I’ve realised it’s changed.
But Yh crap now.

SusanChurchouse · 16/06/2026 07:44

I think Asda is awful generally. Product ranges and customer service both woeful at my local one. It went downhill when it was bought by Walmart and never recovered.

I get Sainsbury’s deliveries because they’re reliable and convenient but do top ups in virtually every other supermarket bar Asda.

Bingbangboo · 16/06/2026 07:45

It was good for a while when it launched. We didn't get anything in our cashpot over christmas when we spent loads, so we've stopped bothering.

Londonnight · 16/06/2026 08:04

I gave up with it. It didn't matter how many times I shopped there, my cash reward stayed at £2 !
Asda is rubbish for shopping nowadays. I much prefer Tesco.

I get points for shopping. I rarely do missions.

It has got worse in my experience. We do a weekly tesco online delivery and our club card points rack up quickly. Then our two nearest walkable supermarkets are Sainsburys and Asda. The Asda Rewards never builds up as fast as the Nectar points, even though we tend to spend more per shop there and go there more frequently than Sainsburys. Ive got a quite a good mission at the minute where if you spend £50 on an online shop, you get a £25 bonus, but the last time we tried an Asda online shop, we weren't very impressed with the quality of what we were sent. We might tried it for some branded / tinned stuff and see? But to be honest, I dont want to do these missions. I just want to scan at the till and collect any points im owed! 😅

dementedpixie · 16/06/2026 08:21

Yes its shit now
We also have a £0 cashpot despite spending plenty in there. We mostly use lidl these days (although they have changed their app and rewards too) with a top up in tesco for the things lidl doesnt have

How?! I've got literally nothing for shopping in nearly three months. 😂

Agree. Asda and Tesco are awful supermarkets. The food quality is terrible as well as the pricing

Favouritefruits · 16/06/2026 09:33

I really dislike Asda their lighting gives me a headache! Their rewards do seem rubbish compared to Sainsbury’s and Tesco. How far away is your next nearest supermarket?

Lastofthesummerwines · 16/06/2026 09:35

I don't even bother with the rewards app any more. They want to sell all your information and give nothing back . Stuff that.

latetothefisting · 16/06/2026 09:42

The cashpoint points thing is rubbish but its worth checking the voucher section once a week - I often get money off ones eg last week was £5 off a £20 shop which is pretty good!

I mix and match and go to different supermarkets every week - that way they all keep trying to entice you back with offers. Also more of a choice of food and for people who worry about "them" having access to all your data means none of the supermarkets hold a complete picture of your shopping habits.

SaraCrewe06 · 16/06/2026 10:32

Asda Rewards is rubbish now.
I think Walmart sold it to 2 brothers. DS1 told me that they’re in trouble and I’m not surprised.
The first year the rewards app was introduced, through my weekly shops I accrued £120 which we used for Christmas.
Now, as many have said, the rewards are paltry.
As with many things, I’ve got into the habit of using Asda…I can navigate their website, get delivery slots easily.
But I really need to switch! I love Sainsbury’s but it’s definitely more expensive even with the better rewards system.

GondorCallsForAid · 16/06/2026 13:33

Thanks everyone for replying, I'm glad it's not just me who thinks the 'rewards' are pretty poor. It's a shame, really.

@Favouritefruits our next large supermarket is Morrisons or Tesco (they are about equal distance). Apart from M&S which I'd dearly love to frequent for weekly shops but sadly I'm not a zillionaire. 😂

I did actually drive 20 minutes to Sainsbury's the other day because I missed it, but not sure if I can face that every time.

I don’t know 🤷‍♀️ I shop and they appear 😅

Mikkie81 · 16/06/2026 17:38

ASDA is awful generally, they don’t even sell a decent repellent like incognito, they only sell toxic DEET ones. £2 or their rewards isn’t going to sway me to go into their pharmacies.

Tink3rbell30 · 16/06/2026 17:39

They keep making it worse and worse and were even greedy enough to take away the blue light discount.

Sirzy · 16/06/2026 17:40

It’s more than a bit rubbish! I do my main shop there every week and don’t even bother checking the app now I get so little.

Whereas Tesco with their club card challenges I have got £15 vouchers in 3 months or doing a top up fortnightly shop there.
