Outbreak of spots on bum?

embarassedmomm · 15/06/2026 06:44

I have NC for this as so embarrassed.

All of a sudden on Wednesday I have suffered an awful bout of spots on my bum!

I used to get them before I started using benzoyl peroxide wash but that had stopped them.

I have been smooth and blemish free for months.

Has anyone else suffered from this and what worked to get rid of them?

Could it be molloscum?

embarassedmomm · 15/06/2026 07:16

Hi I just had a look on google, no the spots are not like that.

It looks more like Folliculitis.

Impetigo? DD had a breakout on her bottom, antibiotics and a cream were needed to clear, how she got this I do not know, we were on holiday when she noticed first spot, never cleared up, just got worse.

Dunkerquetodover · 15/06/2026 07:35

Buy some hibiscrub

EffinMagicFairy · 15/06/2026 07:35

DD’s impetigo did not look like the goohle images, more a hard boil with a head.

have you tried washing with dettol bar soap from sainburys.I used to get spots there but fine since its also good if your sweaty .I clean sweaty areas with it first before using a nice soap

embarassedmomm · 15/06/2026 08:23

Yes I do tend to get quite sweaty when I'm walking with the kids.

I have just sent an online triage form to my doctors as I have had this on off since I was 19 now and I am now in my 30s and would like to combat this.

Sweat and bacteria, that’s all. Very common and I don’t see something needing the GP personally.

The benzoyl peroxide was working for you so I’d just go back to using that a couple of times a week on the specific area. Alternatively hibiscrub or dettol soap. Also try and change underwear/clothes after you’ve got in when sweaty.

Do you eat a lot of sugar Op? That can cause spots on the bum.

Maybe a look at your diet to see if you’ve had a change recently - more processed food , or ready meals which may contain hidden sugars ?

embarassedmomm · 15/06/2026 09:32

@PinkPhonyClub - Hi, is it very common? In a weird way makes me feel better lol.

I use benzoyl daily, I will also try the dettol soap. I did try hibiscrub before but didn't really have much luck it with.

I will also immediately change my underwear/clothes when I come in from walking as I do sweat a lot.

Many thanks

I used too, I eat low carb now mainly to keep Type 2 diabetes at bay (was close to being pre diabetic a few years back after last pregnancy).

I know boils can be a sign of diabetes but my HBA1C was only taken a few weeks ago and is in normal range.

Just Google “bacne” and you’ll see lots of examples and products for this common issue.

if you are conditioning your hair rinse that out before washing your body. An African net sponge can help exfoliate and salicylic acid leave on products can also be good.
