To be upset that my mother didn't send at least birthday card for my 50th birthday?

Not drip feeding. We don't have the best relationship but message each other every few weeks. She thinks its acceptable to send a text and put a Facebook status on to wish me a Happy 50th Birthday but can't understand why I'm upset that I didn't get a card from her. Or why I'm upset that she never told me she'd not sent one until I asked! AIBU and being a drama queen?

Agree that seems a bit mean if she usually sends one and if there’s no reason (illness, mobility etc) that she wouldn’t have been able to send one this year.

She blamed her dog being ill as a reason....

You are definitely not being unreasonable to expect a card! Especially a special birthday. Have you tried explaining to her it made you feel sad that she didn’t send a card.
