AIBU to let my 14 yo DS go to a mixed-sex sleepover? In 2 minds, it's half half boy/girl. The host is a girl and I've chatted with her mum on the phone to confirm the details but never met her as kids come from all over to attend this school.
Poll:
YABU - 14 is too old for mixed sex sleepovers and parties
YANBU - they are sensible kids who don't get much of a chance to socialise due to distance so it's a good thing.

Nope. There will definitely be sexual interactions.

I had considered this but think it unlikely as they are a group of mates who apend all day at school together and get public transport to and from school so heaps of opportunities for sneaking off in pairs but they haven't. I do know that I was sexually active at 15yo so it's not far off.

Parents are crazy to allow a mixed sex sleepover at 14. I may consider it, as babies don’t always get conceived on overnight visits, but i’d want to know sleeping arrangements and how parents intend to supervise (or not). I am fortunate none of mine requested a mixed sex sleepover, ever.

Having went through the teenage years with 2 girls I would be asking the sleeping arrangements and also if the parents are there all night. My daughter went to one at 15 and the girls slept upstairs and the boys downstairs. I allowed it as if they are going to have sex and want to have sex a group sleep over with a parent there would probably be not the place to do it . And unfortunately if they want to have sex they will have sex in a house or not 😢

They are all sleeping in a massive loungeroom together! Sounds bad when I put it like that. Edit - typo

i remember hosting one at 14. There wasn't even any snogging let alone anything else. We were truly all just mates. (My parents were there but not downstairs and we all slept in a lounge room). Two years later I went to one and that was VERY different.

My DS had mixed sex sleepovers, boys upstairs and girls downstairs, we never had a problem. I wouldn’t have done all in one room though.

It's so sad that people feel the need to break a normal healthy friendship group just because it is mixed sexed.

Everyone sleeping in a big lounge in open. What's supposed to be the issue?

Sleepovers. Never. Never necessary
