Advice for flying with diazepam

LittleMuffin90 · 12/06/2026 12:31

Shameless post in AIBU for traffic 🙊 flying from Belfast to France in a few days. GP prescribed me diazepam recently for anxiety/jaw spasms. I have an email from the GP to advise that it's prescribed and the reason for it. Do I need to declare it at the airport or not? It's in the original packaging also. Sorry for the ignorance but haven't flown in years and have never needed to bring medications before. I have googled but advice is conflicting.

Keep it in original packaging and in hand luggage and will be fine I've never had an issue or declared it

TheKidsHaveAllGrownNow · 12/06/2026 12:43

No you don’t. Put it in your hand luggage, they tend not to ask.

Nobody will care as long as you don't have 100g of it!

Thank you so much for the replies everyone. So do I not need to declare anything on the way back either then at CDG airport?

Just keep them in your bag coming back you will be fine,

Pretty sure I took some with me when I flew into CdG last year...didn't occur to me to check and nothing happened either end.

Make sure you give yourself lots of time for Security at CDG. We had a bit of a nightmare on Thursday. Almost missed our flight and we weren't the only ones.

@RealBlueMoon Oh gosh, thats not good. What happened? How long would you say we need? I'm so stressed about getting stuck in France (as much as it's a lovely country)

There were only a few security counters open. They seem to be upgrading at the moment. If you give yourself plenty of time you'll be fine. We were flying from Terminal 1. It might be ok if you are flying from another terminal. I think you need to be there at least two hours before your flight normally. I would give it another 30 to 45 minutes.
