Posting here for traffic(posted in weight loss but it’s so quiet.
I’m literally on day two of winging it at a new way of eating.
So I’m doing 16hour fast. I have breakfast at 10am and then dinner by 6pm. So that’s two meals. I’m making them heavily protein based and filling. Today I had approx 1165 calories.
I have an office job/wfh so not a lot of movement in the day.
My aim is to workout for a half hour 2-3 times a week and walk 2 times also.
Has anyone done similar and how fast did you see/feel results? I’m 41 and 5ft2 and I weigh just under 10 stone I reckon.
Also any food suggestions would be greatly appreciated ☺️ I would love to get to 8.5stone.

Took about a week before I started to feel a bit lighter around the waist.

I did pretty much the same but exercised and hour 4 times a week. I lost exactly that much weight in 13 weeks, according to my history on my fitness pal

God I would love to feel results after a week that would really spur me on! Thank you

Very easy BUT I like a drink so let myself have one day a week off as obvs you drink later at night so can’t be fasting. Normally I would drink a couple of nights a week so that was the hardest part for me. Sounds bad I know. I should add, it was 6 months after having a baby so maybe some of that weight would have come off on its own anyway

At 5ft 2 and just under 10st, your maintenance calories won’t be much higher than 1165. Somewhere around 1600 with a sedentary job. Fasting doesn’t change your calories in/calories out. It’s just a method some find useful to control calorie intake. With that deficit, you’ll lose roughly 1lb every 8-9 days.

Yeah I’m totally winging it tbh and doing a mix so watching may calorie intake (high protein etc) and the 16:8 because that’s what I kind of do naturally. But I can be prone to snacking and carbs so I have cut that out.

There’s a lot more to it than that

Someone I work with was a chronic snacker. She found fasting really helpful for that reason. My downfall is no snacking but huge portions, so not so helpful!!

Not in the way intermittent fasting works unfortunately. Studies have shown it to be no more effective than restricting calories during all hours of any 24hr period.

Maybe it’s no more effective than plain calories counting but having the 16:8 rules around eating windows changed my life from evening binging to nothing after 8pm. Also cut out morning snacking after breakfast.

I’ve been doing it for about 3 y now!

Backedoffhackedoff · 11/06/2026 21:55

Hmm at 1100 calories you should be losing weight pretty rapidly to be honest. I had a big shock last year. Was eating similar and lost 1/2 a stone in a Week. It’s not very sustainable though .

IcedPurple · 11/06/2026 21:58

I started 16 8 IF nearly 3 years ago when I weighed about 70kg. After a few weeks I steadily started losing weight, and had lost about 7kg in about 3 months.

I continued to lose at a slightly slower rate after the first few months, and for the past year or so I've 'plateaued' at somewhere around 56kg, though I've noticed my weight creeping up a little over the past few weeks. I'm hoping that's a blip rather than a trend!

I've also gone from a size 12 to a size 8, which is nice! I'm mid 50s btw.

That's absolutely been the case for me. Before I started IF, I could easily polish off several packets of crisps, some ice cream, maybe some fizzy drinks just in an evening watching the telly or faffing about on the internet. I'd barely even notice it but that's a lot of empty calories right there, and there's evidence that your body processes food less efficiently when eaten late in the evening.

Since I started IF, I only eat between about 10 and 6, so no evening snacking. I was shocked at how little I missed it after the first few weeks. IF has given me a good structure and discipline. It now just seems strange to me to eat in the evening, when before it was the norm.

Well it’s only day two so we shall see. I also have an underactive thyroid so that kind of slows things

Back to report I am down to 59.5kg already (was 63kg!) I’m delighted and I feel so much better
