AIBU to expect replacement shelves?

I’m after some advice please as starting to doubt myself.

I am currently having some bespoke bedroom fitted wardrobes installed (oak laminate).

We have had some small shelves attached next to the bed. I am not happy with the quality of the workmanship and asked for them to be replaced.

The installers have said that they cover the edges with wax instead to finish them and that this wax is permanent. They are pushing back on replacing the shelves.

I don’t see how wax can be permanent as usually requires maintenance work and I’m not happy with the idea of poor products needing wax to cover the issues. I would return shelves if I bought them looking like this in ikea for example.

I’ve attached a photo to show the issue and would be really grateful for any opinions or advice!

In case relevant, we are paying circa £7k for a large chest of drawers, fitted corner wardrobe, single wardrobe, double wardrobe and over bed storage units.

I dont see the problem.
7k for a wardrobe set is madness tbh.
All that wood in one room would drive me mad it sounds to much.

The white around the edges where the seal (?) doesn’t seem to have been put on well. If you zoom, you can see patches of brown, which is what it should look like all round.

Yes that looks terrible. I’d be escalating up the management chain

Wax is permanent. I've recently waxed finished an antique bookcase after stripping it back.

Under the consumer protection act, you don't haven to let them try to rectify but if you do and it still looks crap, then you have a firmer stance.

What's the worst. They fix thd issues then all good. If not they replace...I would put that in writing
