AIBU to worry about LPG tank safety and our rented home?

As always, long story, will try not to drip feed, not really AIBU but need a quick response so here for traffic (and the inevitable roasting)

We live in a rented house, and have been here for over 15 years. 4ish years ago, old landlord built a garage on top of a 4000lt LPG underground tank (to replace another building we had as storage that they wanted to develop it) - the man-hole/hatch is accessible and has been used to refill the tank but it isn't 3 meters away from the building.

The gas company HAVE refilled the tank since the building was complete and the gas engineer sent by old landlord has provided gas safe certs annually.

We now have a new landlord and the gas safe engineer they sent has refused to issue a certificate as the building is too close and it's not safe.

There is approx 2500Lt of gas in the tank at approx £2000 value...

What should I do? The new landlords are not very nice and tried to evict us on a section 21 just before the law changed (but invalid due to lack of paperwork) now I am awaiting a Section 8 as they say the want to move in... (they don't... they have a mansion)

If our gas situation has been unsafe since the construction of the building then I have concerns... how did the previous engineers sign off the certificate? What are our rights as far as the property are concerned?

The last 2 months have been really distressing as it all came as a total shock and now this!
