There was a thread on here a few months back about a similar situation but can’t find it! I think it concerned a shared driveway so it’s a bit different.

We live in a new build development and as you know space is tight. In this area every house has the same set up - house, adjacent garage, 1.5 car space in front of the garage. The below diagram is a screenshot from maps so some bits have changed since, mainly amount of second cars now parking on the road. Private new build estate so no lines and parking restrictions.

Anyway here’s the annoying thing.

To come out of my road there are crossroads (no give way lines not sure that’s relevant really), you just have to be conscious that now people park along the sides visibility is lower and you got to be careful. No big deal. Man in the top right corner house has been having lots of new electric cars coming and going from his property. Sometimes 2-3 at a time, usually just parked in front of his garage. Recently he’s started parking them on the corner right across the pavement on the bend. Yesterday the car was so nonchalantly parked the backside was sticking out on to the road, I was edging out to go right, a car was coming from the opposite direction and we nearly had a meeting because neither of us could see, but luckily we were both going very slow so nothing happened.

Anyways it’s clear he is selling these cars from his house. I would say driveway but… it’s the public pavement. These cars are there for a day, then they’re done the next day, new cars appear.

At first I was minding my own, he’s not my immediate neighbour so it’s no skin off my back but now his diagonal parking is starting to piss me off. Why would you block off the pavement in that way for pedestrians (not that I am one in this scenario but I find the arrogance of the whole thing annoying) and then make the visibility situation so annoying especially when the amount of already parked cars by other residents already make me slalom out of every road!

So AIBU to be pissed off and would you do the passive aggressive note on the windshield? I don’t have the balls to post a pic on my local facebook group - they don’t allow anonymous posts 😂

Red - his bloody fleet of cars
Green - usual parked cars

Report it to the police as an obstruction if you can't see properly at the corner. Also is he blocking the pavement?

We’ve been reporting a HGV on the corner and on the pavement like this for about five years. The pavement is collapsing and the corner is deadly. No one cares.

It is illegal for a business to have 2 or more cars for sale on the road within 500 metres of each other. Report him to your council.

This is great, thanks. I can probably get stills from my dashcam to show they’re different cars as well

Absolutely! Right on the bend, diagonally across the pavement

It might be worth getting a local councillor involved. Someone was doing this in a street quite near me and they managed to.put a stop to it.

I just finished typing my email!

I actually realised that our roads haven’t yet been adopted by the council so I can’t use the online forms. I would have to contact the management company but I don’t want them to put in parking restrictions on the roads just because of one idiot!! So I’m asking Councillor for guidance - he’s actually a decent guy and has moved things along previously

Fingers crossed for you! This would drive me mad if it was on my street. So inconsiderate.

Its still a planning issue

The management company would find it hard to enforce parking restrictions but there may be restrictive covenants on the houses that they could enforce
