To throw out all kinetic sand?

There have been many reports of asbestos in play sand. We have two sets, one is Kinetic Sand and the other is a different brand. I'm wondering whether to just throw them out now given the various reports and concerns? They are not played with very often and if they are missed I can buy more.

Oh! My dc love this and get it all over the carpet

Had no idea! Maybe I won't be so mean now for throwing it out!

The branded one is fine apparently.

It's not all types and it's not from all manufacturers. You would be unreasonable to throw them out without knowing if you have the affected types or not.

I have the kinetic sand brand and another brand but not sure what brand it is. I'll see if I can work out if it's been affected but I'm kind of worried they could be but it's not yet known, just because it wasn't just one item...

I only had one (barely used) but have thrown it out.

I'm generally very environmentally conscious - buy and sell a lot on Vinted, etc - but for me, the number of product withdrawals suggested it was too high risk for me to keep in the house, particularly when the stuff gets everywhere.

People are selling it on vinted!
can’t believe people’s thought process: I won’t give asbestos to my kids so I’ll palm it off on someone else’s.
i wrote to vinted about it but they said they won’t take it down.

I will bin the kinetic sand when I get in

I have thrown out all of ours and replaced it with new branded stuff. The previous stuff was some branded, some not, all mixed in together.

I have also thrown out a couple of unopened sets we'd been given as presents.

My kids love kinetic sand, but we're sticking to the actual Kinetic Sand stuff now even though it's pricey.

That's appalling but doesn't surprise me. I'm sure people don't dispose of it safely either.

That doesn't surprise me about Vinted either.

Does everyone trust the branded kinetic sand bought from amazon? They've got a sale on now but I am anxious about whether I can trust them like I would argos

I would think it's the same thing you'd get in Argos if it's that brand.

I might keep the kinetic sand branded set. The other one is "Made by Me" which looks like it could be affected so I'm going to throw that.

So this is what AI says about the official Kinetic Sand:

Spin Master's Kinetic Sand is asbestos-free. While other brands and generic sand art kits have faced recalls and safety alerts due to asbestos contamination in natural materials, Kinetic Sand has not been subject to any such recalls. Spin Master regularly tests its Kinetic Sand formula to ensure it remains safe and compliant with global toy regulations.

I think everyone has to do their own risk assessment, but we're sticking to branded Kinetic Sand products only at the moment. Everything else is going in the bin.
