Would it be unreasonable to go to the doctor if my periods have stopped? No illnesses, not stressed nor pregnant. Age 43

Not unreasonable no. Are you very underweight?

SpiritAdder · Yesterday 22:02

Not unreasonable because you can’t assume it’s menopause.

Yes, I'd go get it checked out.

momager22 · Yesterday 22:03

Did you have any obvious peri menopause symptoms?

No nothing really apart from the odd annoying chin hair 😂

Have your periods been regular up till now?

They were until about August last year but then they started going irregular, haven't had one at all since January now

No, not unreasonable. I was 41 when this happened to me, they said it would likely be down to stress (even though I wasn’t stressed at all). The blood test showed I was going through the menopause. They referred me to endocrinology as I was younger to make sure there was nothing else. There wasn’t I was started on HRT and had a bone scan, so pleased I went.

I would get checked. I didn't have periods for over six months went to GP was fobbed off they checked hormone levels said they were fine etc...gave me tablets to try and bring on my periods which did nothing except give me the most awful cramps...anyway they checked my prolactin levels and gave me a mri 12 months later turns out I have a prolactinoma on my pituitary gland which stopped my periods. I now take medication to shrink it and it's restarted my periods. But if I don't take it they will stop again and it will keep growing. Funny thing I was suffering with alot of headaches and after I started taking the medication to treat the prolactinoma they stopped.
