If going to be driving about 40 minutes away before you leave the house.

Common as in the thread where the op was judged for sitting in her front garden or common as in everyone does it?

Pancakeflipper · 31/05/2026 00:11

Depends on your bladder and how much you drank.
I think you hit an age where you start thinking "best try for a wee"

PinkyFlamingo · 31/05/2026 00:11

Would it not depend if you actually need it or not? 🤔

Solmum1964 · 31/05/2026 00:15

I always go for a wee before embarking in any journey.
You just never know situation might arise!

BauhausOfEliott · 31/05/2026 00:20

Why do you need to know?

BringBackTheLight · 31/05/2026 00:21

I would always go for a wee before going out. Might end up in a traffic jam for hours!

Yep. I didn't go once when getting a bus that was supposed to take 40 mins. There was a major hold up on the road and the journey took 2 hours.

InterestedDad37 · 31/05/2026 00:40

I do it often, AND I'm common as muck.

TopazQuartz · 31/05/2026 00:41

so many parameters. How full my bladder is when due to leave. It's only 40 mins not a lot of change in my bladder in 40 mins. But then anxiety comes into play. If perception of risk is high that day then wee before the trip regardless as might break down. If anxiety low, no wee before, not going to break down. Menstrual cycle comes into play, bladder more twitchy at certain points in cycle, so wee before, or not depending on that. Then there's how much tea or coffee I've had in the last hour. There's probably loads of other factors I unconsciously take into account in the to wee or not to wee decision. But mainly I'd not be too worried about it unless I was going to be travelling for over an hour. An hour goes quick to me and my bladder rarely cannot wait that long. One day I'll break down on a 15 minute journey at the wrong point in my cycle, having had 3 coffees just beforehand and be left waiting hours and then I'll reconsider all this again.

XenoBitch · 31/05/2026 00:42

Best to go for a 'safety wee'

JustGiveMeReason · 31/05/2026 01:03

Yes, very normal amongst many people.

Even more likely amongst people who have given birth.

EBearhug · 31/05/2026 01:13

Always go when you've got the opportunity, said my mother, so I do tend to go before leaving the house.

mediummumma · 31/05/2026 01:16

I always do a ‘leaver’s pee’ before leaving the house for any journey. Once wet myself when I was heavily pregnant and stuck in unexpected traffic, so I don’t leave the house without trying to go, needed or not.

HelenaWilson · 31/05/2026 01:18

Mine too. 'You never know when you might have a chance to go again.'

takealettermsjones · 31/05/2026 01:26

Absolutely normal imo, although for me it's mostly because I'm trying to convince my kids to go, so I'm going as well... race you! 🤣

AlcoholicAntibiotic · 31/05/2026 01:28

Depends how long it’s been since I last went. It’s not something I think about much.

Tigerbalmshark · 31/05/2026 01:38

I thought this was going to be a thread about the word “loo” being common!

Yes I think most people pee before a journey.

Mumwithbaggage · 31/05/2026 01:47

It's more common to piss yourself half way home.

Lavenderandbrown · 31/05/2026 02:22

Yes traffic

CoffeeCantata · 31/05/2026 13:50

Of course it's common to use the loo!

I have my waste products discreetly removed by suction in Harley Street.

Weekmindedfool · 31/05/2026 13:51

Oh how common.
