AIBU to expect a proper clean after an Audi service?

Just had my oil (minor) service at the Audi dealer costing a couple of hundred quid For me the only good part of a service is you get a clean car at the end of it, it’s the only bit you see

got the car back and they say getting the green moss off window (I know I’ve not been able to drive or maintain for a while) isn’t included in a clean, they’ve added dirt to be driver footwell and not hoovered the boot (this was supposed to be part of the clean)

they offered me a valet but that just takes more time from me and to be fair the rest of the car is pretty spotless and doesn’t need a valet, just a clean

AIBU for expecting them to do a decent clean or should I just suck it up as it’s an add on to the service?

I’m not after anything from Audi just want a moan that another big company cuts corners. I know I can sort it out myself but just annoying (and it’s too hot)

pics will follow

Did they wash it? The famous Audi scratch & swirl 😂

Service & attention to detail can vary widely between dealerships.

It used to be a given that your car was valeted as part of the service, but I don’t think it is any more. Ours comes back in the same condition it went in, so if it went clean, it’s still clean and if it needed one, it still needs one.

The only thing they seem to tinker with the the radio station, which is very annoying.

Buscobel · 30/05/2026 18:03

IS the radio station.

Well they added extra dirt to the footwell that’s wasn’t there before. Maybe that was an added extra for me

@Buscobel they told me twice it was included and again when I arrived

yeah I’ve had other dealers who don’t include it. One seemed to have thrown a bucket of dirty water over mine once which made it worse so I do check

I don't think I've ever had my car cleaned as part of the service, except about 25 years ago when I had a Merc and they DID wash it. DH does expect to get his car cleaned though and they always do, so how come he gets it and I don't?

Actually just checked on Audi website.

complimentary wash and vacuum. Every visit ends with a final touch of care - your Audi returned to you refreshed, inside and out

Your expectations for a couple of hundred pound minor service seem high to me. I would never think a free clean was going to sort out moss and that kind of thing. The footwell dirt is annoying but would take seconds to shake the mat out. And then they offered to valet it and you turned them down.

I think you are being a tad unreasonable.

Goodadvice1980 · 30/05/2026 18:20

Give feedback. Not good enough if they left the footwell dirty.

At one Audi dealership I found a used pair of latex gloves in my car door pocket after an oil change. I walked straight back into the showroom and offered them back to the dealership manager 😂 his face was a picture.

We have a campervan which we pay a lot to get it serviced at the proper VW garage. I was very cross last time that we got a note saying ‘instead of cleaning your vehicle we’ve planted a tree’

I thought for close to £500 they could blooming well give it a clean (and plant a tree if they so wish)!!

Besafeeatcake · 30/05/2026 18:22

Please tell me you drive an A3.

Cleanornotclean · 30/05/2026 18:24

It shouldn’t matter about the cost it’s the inability of them doing what they are supposed to do that annoys me

a quick blast with the jet wash would have got rid of the moss, actually putting a hoover to the boot would have sorted it

and as for making the footwell dirtier than it went in. If you picked something up from dry cleaners that was dirtier than it went if would you ‘ah don’t worry I’ll sponge it down when I get home?’

Ha I did name change for the Audi comments. No I drive an A1 and I use my indicators that does really confuse other drivers

@Avocadoo a tree instead of a wash, that’s not good. You should tell them you’ve offset the carbon footprint of a wash against the moss on my window so crack on

Service is so poor from pretty much all main dealers now that I would just hr grateful if they had actually changed the oil and replaced it with the correct type!
