I’m in temporary accommodation which is making my mental health worse is very noisy constantly smells of weed etc. thinking for a break of just booking myself into a local hotel for a couple of days. You’re allowed to be away three days in week.

Yes

Would the money not be better spent on trying to get your life to a situation where you can move out of there all together

SnappyQuoter · 26/05/2026 22:52

How long are you going to be in temp housing for? I’d be working on a long term plan rather than a short term break.

NiftyPrawn · 26/05/2026 22:52

Do it. I’m assuming that by you being in temp accommodation, you’ve probably not had much chance to treat yourself lately. You can afford it and it’s for a good reason, so do it :)

Oftenaddled · 26/05/2026 22:52

Go for it then - it will help. But check about air conditioning if you're in a warm part of the country, so you can be sure of a good night's sleep

Very unlikely to be able to afford private rent in my area unfortunately.

Already been there since august last year unfortunately

Yes do it. Treat it as a holiday that will give your mental health a lift.

SnappyQuoter · 26/05/2026 22:55

Well, if it’s long term and you’ve not much hope of getting out and sorted soon then give yourself the break in a hotel and recharge.

But, are there no better options? Roomshare or lodger? If you’ve been there since August then it seems like your local council
and housing associations just don’t have the housing stock and can’t house you.
