To find credit easiest to get when you need it least?

I’ve noticed this a lot with credit cards especially. When you actually need breathing room, need a balance transfer, need emergency access to credit or your finances are under pressure… suddenly lenders act like you’re radioactive.

But once your finances improve and you don’t particularly need the credit anymore, you suddenly start getting pre-approvals, high limits, better offers, promo deals, balance transfer offers etc.

I’ve got to the point where I just take decent offers as they come and use the cards strategically/accordingly depending on what I need.

Credit isn't designed as a means to an end for people who can't afford it. It is a way to spread payments for people who can afford it.
