What to do with 4 year old with tonsillitis in this heat ?

I had a whole half term of summer frolicking outside with the hose / paddling pool / going swimming etc planned. But my little one has come down with tonsillitis. He gets it quite a often. But not usually when it’s hot like it is now.

he’s ok in himself, but of course I don’t want to take him swimming. I also don’t want him to exert himself too much outside in the heat. Or go to the playground/ soft plays etc. he’s on antibiotics now since today. He’s been feeling off since Sunday.

I feel bad for my 6 year old as I promised we’d go swimming a lot and now we can’t go.

any advice on what he can and cannot do in this weather etc ? Thank you.

You probably just need to judge what he’s well enough to do by how he is, and start small to see how he goes. It’s difficult to say what he can and can’t do without seeing what he’s like.

He’s fine in himself, 90 percent of the time! Right now he’s chasing around after his sister- with a 38 fever. He had calpol at midday and it’s worn off now but he’s just running around being crazy anyway.

I assume you have own garden if you have paddling pool? I think that’s fine. Just spend the week at home watching films, baking, crafts indoor if it’s hot and he’s up to it. And let him play in garden, in paddling pool and have ice creams. That’s grand for a week off when not 100%

Yeah we have a garden, just worried about him getting hot / cold etc.
