Allergic to tattoo, antihistamine?

OK so I'm aware this is my own fault.

I have several tattoos that are 15-20 years old. I recently got a couple of new ones, and since then my old ones have massively flared up, I'm itchy like mad and scratchy all day and all night. The old tattoos are now raised and have small bumps on them. Legs, lower back, upper back, under breasts, both hips, so not a small area. It's getting worse.

I googled it and it's saying you can become allergic to tattoo ink at any point. It recommended taking 10mg of antihistamine.

I take amitriptyline 50mg in the evenings for a back injury.

The antihistamine 10mg isn't doing anything. Should I take more? Or is this dangerous? I looked on here and plenty of people say take 2. However I'm also on amitriptyline, which already knocks you out a bit.

Thank you for any advice.

Go and see you your GP. They will be in the best position to advise you on what treatment you need.

Yes you need medical help. As it’s Sunday I’d ring 111 for immediate advice.

Antistamines can be used in combination and other doses than stated under the supervision of a doctor.

There are short and quicker acting antihistamines and longer acting ones. So you might combine those. Say piriton and fexofenadine would give that effect.

Fexofenadine or allevia are brilliant antihistamines available otc at 120mg or prescribed at 180 mg as a starter.

Get to a pharmacy, they'll advise.
