Recently stayed in a Premier in hotel for two nights, paid for a full English breakfast for two people both days we where there first morning wasn't too bad but was cold food, second morning it was obvious they where short staffed, on site hotel cafe and work going on for building works so one part of hotel been used only I think, we got to breakfast no hot water but took order for hot drinks and what was supposed to be a help yourself hot buffet took order as told not many visitors, the food arrived cold the only person to complain to was woman who cooked it!
My fault but I struggle with communication as I'm deaf so upon leaving gave up as I rang reception bell no answer used online customer services report, explained situation and twice they have come back to me apologising and saying short staffed I needed to complain at the time, no reception staff noone to complain to I explained this and have re emailed them not impressed!!!

It was a buffet but the food laid out wasn’t hot enough?

it’s an open kitchen at PI…. Why didn’t you say anything? At least to the person who served you drinks.

So you ordered a hot breakfast, and both times it was cold? You (or your companion) should have sent it back.

Food issues really need to be dealt with at the time, not afterwards.

But by all means try to get some money back. I probably would too.

Does Premier Inn not have a coffee machine and buffet? They also have continental breakfast food available -yoghurt, croissant, cereal etc. I’ve never heard of them doing cooked to order.

They do a hot buffet also but as few visitors took a order if what we wanted for it to be stuck under a lamp then served there was a lady running u think from reception to cafe, obviously short staffed whilst I feel sorry I hate to cause a seen just ate what was OK and left, very dissatisfied, like I say I have communication issues due to been deaf so communication is difficult but I did try before I left, have emailed them back but I'm not hopeful

Being deaf, the OP may be using speech to text for their social media/MN posts while actually typing emails directly but you feel free to be snide

Well that’s daft. Could just type with fingers

JMSA · 22/05/2026 19:39

Didn’t they have a microwave there to heat up food?
I really couldn’t be bothered complaining about food temperature at a cheap, unlimited breakfast buffet.

AImportantMermaid · 22/05/2026 19:52

The thing is, you ate at least some of the food, you didn’t complain at the time, and you didn’t send it back. That is not the behaviour of someone who is dissatisfied. If you’d told them they would have cooked you another one.

RandomMess · 22/05/2026 20:04

Since PI moved to buffet it’s gone massively downhill and I eat elsewhere now.

It seems pretty clear to me:

  • OP booked the Full English buffet breakfast
  • However the hotel had building works and was also short staffed so the usual buffet was not laid out.
  • Instead, some poor woman was running round like mad trying to take individual orders and man reception at the same time, AND also having to cook the breakfast orders. The food was then cold on arrival.
  • Same for the usual self serve hot drinks.

OP was not able to complain effectively on the day due to the very busy single member of staff, plus is deaf. Her contact with PI customer services after the trip has been unsatisfactory.

OP: I think you would be very reasonable to expect a refund of the expected breakfast you didn't get.

PloddingAlong21 · 25/05/2026 07:28

If you paid to upgrade breakfast to a hot one and you never got it then yes, complain for the refunded upgraded amount.

You would be unreasonable expect a full refund for the actual stay because you did stay there

Eck1234 · 26/05/2026 19:01

Update yay Premier Inn have admitted they had staffing issues and so when I tried to report it as I left I couldn't due to no reception staff thus refunded 50nquid back to my card funny thing is I had a email 3 hours before stating this was the last I was going to hear from they about this matter and they refused to refund breakfast, obvprwmier inn don't know their arse from their elbow and cannot even get that right!!!
