AIBU to feel manipulated into doing work?

I work in a projects based workplace. Tight deadlines and a long hours expectation, but also high pay.

I already have a few busy projects on my plate, with their final deadlines all being in mid June.

My boss asked me if I had capacity to take on another project. It sounds interesting, so I explained I already had a lot on my plate. My boss told me not to worry, they would make sure I only had a small part of the project.

I got staffed on project and the project lead told me she hopes I’m ready for a busy few months because this project is going to be mainly done by me. I said sorry what, I was told I would be assisting not doing most of the work, and then team leader said she was never told this.

Spoke to my boss again and he just said oh don’t worry I should be able to manage doing both and ignored the point about me only playing a smaller role! I am already working 60 hour weeks.

Is this a situation where you put pen to paper to show how your time is currently used, and ask your line manager how the expectation of this new project can possibly be run alongside, or can they suggest what you should not do to accommodate this new project.

As suggested by @Hadalifeonce you document what you are doing now, and ask the boss to make the decision what is priority and what has to drop. If they say "it'll be fine" - no as you can see i CANNOT accomodate it all, what is to drop?

If necessary do this every single day when competing requirements come in; two very important meetings? Boss - which takes priority? Both of them you say? how? which do I attend.

Make it their problem. Dont swallow it.
