In light of David Attenborough's (obviously a national treasure, I will not be taking questions) 100th birthday and all the well deserved fuss, who else makes your pride of Britain list for list for national treasures?

To make it interesting, you can only have five, and they must be alive, if we have dead people we'll be here all night. So sadly no Maggie Smiths or Princess Dianas.

I am still thinking of mine, and will update....

Honestly the lists need to be all female because of the never ending fountain of shot about men in positions of power.

Slash. (Saul Hudson. Gets in under the wire because he was born in Hampstead and grew up in Stoke until he was six. His mum was David Bowie's girlfriend for a bit too. She might even have been British, I think.)

Ooh, last choice:

Marco Pierre White.

There you go.

Oh, I forgot the sports. Good choice.

Torvill and Dean, obviously.
Sharon Davies.

I'm so out of touch with athletics and sports generally.

Bloody love that woman in spades. Authentic, funny, warm, talented, brave.

Listen to any podcast she’s ever done, and I’m thinking particularly of her Women’s Hour interview from a few years ago. Couldn’t get out of the car until it was finished. I was late for work!

Anyway. My vote right there

Oh, and Maggie Hambling. Bloody love her too.

Definitely not Attenborough
