scottish parliament has erased the numbers showing female representation and history.

now you don’t know it’s only 42% female, and dropping.

Invisible women - For Women Scotland

The option to search for female MSPs vanished overnight, and along with it, the record of women's current and historical representation in Parliament.

"The Scottish Parliament has removed information on whether MSPs are male or female from its website.
Until this week, the official site provided an option to list MSPs by factors including party affiliation and gender.
Last session, the options were male or female. After the return of the first transgender MSPs in the 7 May election, that was expanded to include a nonbinary option for Q Manivannan, with Green partymate Iris Duane included in the female list.
The facility has now been removed altogether in a change that also applies to MSPs from previous sessions, prompting complaint from some campaigners."

Data now obscured, critics say

Trans Ideology destroys everything.

BipityBap · 19/05/2026 15:43

This does not surprise me. The SNP are wedded to the conviction that trans people are their new sex.

Don't even start me on Q: that individual irritates me beyond belief. Predominantly for the fact that they and the Greens are playing the immigration system for all they're worth but also for the whole trans ideology that they're pushing.

Boomer55 · 19/05/2026 15:43

Probably too complicated to bother with now, with trans stuff. 🤷‍♀️

We all know though, don't we. These two individuals are both men. If it really sticks in the craw of the Scottish Government to admit that, they could add separate categories of "transgender/nonbinary", or perhaps "prefer not to say," that stupid box we have to tick when we are asked our "gender identity" on forms.

araiwa · 19/05/2026 16:56

They can't be arsed dealing with the hassle

Fair enough

This is the Scottish Parliament website. Nothing whatsoever to do with the SNP or the Scottish Government.

Surely any interested party could work this out in fairly short order if they wanted to, with or without the data on the Scottish parliament website. It's not like it's the sole source of information here.

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 19/05/2026 17:11

The sequence is always:

Works perfectly well for years

Trans ideology makes it really complicated

Saying no to activists takes way too much effort

End/destroy/remove whatever women had so the activists shut up and bother someone else

I hardly think that’s a point do you?

This right here is what matters. Proper data collection matters more than any debate about toilets. Easy transparency about things like the number of female members helps keep government fair.

I would argue that reporting numbers of LGB and Trans identifying members, as overlapping and non-exclusive categories, because people can be more than one thing, is also important.

Diversity in representation is valuable. Visibility of that diversity is critical.

Would be good to have both
