Walking round in joggers, jumper and a shawl! Feeling the cold so much today.

Now is the time to buy heated throws while they’re available at summer prices. You will thank me.

But, sadly, all they seem to do is warm you when you are sat there doing nothing. They don't lift the wider room/house heat so it's still perishingly cold when you are going about doing stuff!...

Sorry now, but why do people ask such questions? What the fuck, there I swore, and I swore I would try not to in 2026, but

Should I go to A+E
Should I put the heating on
Should I (add your own dilemma)

FFS. (Avoided spelling out the F bomb).
FFS!!

First of all, this is a message board for people to have a chat and that's very clearly what the OP was doing. Like saying, "Ooh it's cold today isn't it?" You can't really be so fucking literal that you think the OP was stood at the boiler panicking waiting for a reply.

Secondly, people who don't swear are weird.

We turned ours off 3 weeks ago, although our house is highly insulated. We only really turn it on in October to April. It’s roasting inside. I never have any idea of outside temp anymore.

True. But you can do stuff first then reward yourself with a warm sit down. Or do less stuff (my preferred option).

Judellie · 16/05/2026 22:39

I wish I could; boiler has been condemned then we have been away for a week, no heating or hot water at home.
Definitely stuff you take for granted til you don't have it. Hopefuuly we'll be sorted by Wednesday night.
Holiday was only to Netherlands as well, it was perishing and mostly wet all week!

True... But I think the 'less stuff' would prevail here... Which is no good to man nor beast in the general scheme of things!

1 of the reasons I don't mind coming into work, we have electric portable heaters in the offices.. they go on straight away!

aurpod1980 · 17/05/2026 07:40

Well it got the house cosy pretty quickly and yes I guess I was just having a chat - not looking for literal permission! Although it’s helpful to know even those in the south put their heating on. A nice cosy night, DH was out, no idea what time he got in but I was fast asleep nice and warm :)

Mine came on automatically this morning and it is set to a really low temperature. So YANBU

UniquePinkSwan · 17/05/2026 08:11

If it’s cold it gets boosted. I’m not sitting with layers on. I grew up in a cold house and it was miserable
