I have a friend. She’s certainly been going through some hard times recently. Her DH has had some medical and financial problems. They started fundraising for some treatment not thought to be available on the NHS. They raised several thousand pounds.
After that they then went to see an NHS consultant who said they could get a different treatment but with similar outcomes on the NHS.
My friend said she contacted the people who she knew to give them their money back. She said there were lots of people who gave money anonymously and she had ‘no way’ of paying them back.
Shes since deleted all social media, she did not post any updates about the fundraising no longer being necessary and offering refunds. I wondered if she has done this intentionally or whether she genuinely thinks it’s ok? As if I had donated (I didn’t I felt the private option was unnecessary) if the money for the intended purpose was no longer needed, I would want it back.
Is there not a way to mass refund everyone on go fund me?
