To dislike both Reform and Greens

Anyone else absolutely despise Reform but at the same time despise the new incarnation of the Green party! I hate Farage and his fuckwit, racist cronies for all the obvious reasons. But at the same time Polanski makes my skin crawl, the Green’s policies make zero sense and I feel they are as extreme on the left as Farage is on the right. I always classed myself as left leaning, but the Green Party and their followers is just something I can’t get behind! I feel both parties would fuck up the U.K. for very different reasons. Am I the only one that longs for two party politics again or am I being ridiculous? (And yes I know the Tory party also fucked up the U.K. too)

If you go far enough to the right you’ll eventually go left

Dangerous looney bins all of them

punkhairbrush · 08/05/2026 22:53

@blubberyboototally! Im listening to all my friends go crazy over Polanski and I’m like - really? What we need is a party that wants to help businesses (big and small) thrive in the U.K.

Yes. I find the Greens very odd, and disturbing in their thinking.
Reform don't bear thinking about.

Zov · 08/05/2026 22:54

Couldn't have put it better myself. Both dreadful, for different reasons.

Batties · 08/05/2026 22:55

I agree. The Greens lost their way a long time ago.

Libre2 · 08/05/2026 22:55

I am completely politically homeless at the moment. I have nowhere to go. And no, to answer your question- YANBU - they are both awful.

Peony1985 · 08/05/2026 22:56

Both want “change”. It’s healthy to have parties that challenge the status quo.

JuliettaCaeser · 08/05/2026 22:57

Agree. They make labour and frankly the tories look like a good bet. Both weirdos for different reasons

punkhairbrush · 08/05/2026 23:02

Thank god! I have found my people on this thread!!! I think another few years of this and we will all be so fed up with it I bet the Tory party will end up coming back in power (I say that kind of tongue in cheek)

Don't know if I want to go back to two party politics, that isn't exactly going well in the US, but I agree with you that Reform and the Greens are both equally awful and equally extremist. Both parties have severe problems with racism and neither party has any actual feasible policies 😅

As an Arab Jewish family, we will no longer feel safe in this country if either of these two parties ever wins a majority in a GE. One will hate us for being Middle Eastern with a funny surname, the other for being Jewish. And not token good Jews either 🥹

punkhairbrush · 08/05/2026 23:05

@Humdingerydooso sorry for the position you find yourself in! I do think Greens weird stance on standing up for the Jewish population is part of the hatred I feel towards him. He uses the ‘I’m Jewish’ get out of jail card all the time! Out of interest? Given the demographic of your family who would you consider voting for?

Two cheeks of the same arse.

punkhairbrush · 08/05/2026 23:07

@GCAcademichow have I never heard this wonderful expression before haha

ArtAngel · 08/05/2026 23:09

They are a parade of ghouls and clowns

The real worry is that so many voted for them.

Its the protest vote again. Never healthy.

I'm generally a left-leaning centrist, but would vote for pretty much any party except Greens or Reform at this point! We didn't have local elections yesterday so I've thankfully not had to make an impossible decision this time around 🙂

TheSmallAssassin · 08/05/2026 23:13

In those policy quizzes I usually match up with the Lib Dems, but I've never voted for them because wherever I have lived it's always been pointless. I wish we had proper PR and I could actually vote for who I wanted. All this tactical voting and second guessing does my head in.

Anybody1234 · 08/05/2026 23:13

So glad to hear you say this! I feel like I’m living in an alternative (bad) universe and don’t talk politics with anyone anymore as they’ve all gone mad!

WindyW · 08/05/2026 23:13

I’ve voted green previously and I don’t like the populist turn the party has taken. Political polarisation is really worrying. Parties in the centre got a drubbing today. It’s hard to look at America and think about importing that level of division and distrust. Though by the looks of it we are half way there.

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 08/05/2026 23:19

Very interesting poll results, OP. I completely agree with you but didn't expect the poll to reflect that.

noblegiraffe · 08/05/2026 23:25

Both led by populist grifters.

PerryMenopaws · 08/05/2026 23:37

Sounds healthy to me. Unfortunately people feel let down so they'll go to extremes

SemperIdem · 08/05/2026 23:41

Single issue parties who are both given far too much attention because of their populist leaders. Can’t stand either one.

blubberyboo · 09/05/2026 16:06

I do think times of both extremes tests the electorate and eventually will pull most people back to the centre ground. It sort of punishes the middle parties for not getting their act together
