Need new Invisalign retainers…..quoted £800!!

As title, I need new night time Invisalign retainers and I’ve just been quoted nearly £800 for new ones!! What the hell, my whole Invisalign treatment was only £3k!

That’s for 3 new sets, they won’t just sell me 1 replacement set, will only sell me the 3!

Has anyone else had this issue?

Has anyone used Retainer Xpress?

I’m panicking now as I don’t have a spare £800 at the moment!

Oh this is interesting nice had my first retainers post Invisalign for about 11 months and I was wondering when to switch. Mostly though because my first ones are fairly rank looking. I’ve started to use a ultrasonic cleaner to clean them but I really dislike how stained they are no hope it’s because I was wearing them 22 hours a day for the first few months and did have the occasional cup of tea in them (what was I thinking). But also wonder if I’m just not cleaning them well enough.

all I found online is don’t change til they’re cracked.

i thought £500 for 3 pairs was standard / well advertised when you signed up though admittedly I though a set was supposed to last 3-5 years. To be honest tho maybe I’ll class them as a 1 year change and buy the £50 version when I’m done

Edited

You could try putting them out in the sun to improve the staining

You can definitely move orthodontists - I had to as, like many people I'm sure, live in a different country to where I had mine done. I got a retainer recently for £70. Make sure you're phoning orthodontists not dentists, and just ask for a quote for a removable retainer not something specifically Invisalign.

Agree with pp it's all probably a bit of a swizz as my fixed wire lasted over 20 years!

I was quoted £100 at my orthodontist.

@TheGreatFairyRescue Did you order the Retainer XPress retainers? If so, are they ok? Thanks!

Just say you want new Essix retainers (don’t mention Invisalign) and most ortho practices will do them. Once finished and bonded retainer on they have no way of knowing what kind of ortho you had.

So this question came at an apt time….

Yes I did and they arrived today (well, technically yesterday as it’s after midnight now)

It was a long process but most of that was my fault. They moulds arrived really quickly, the next day after ordering them but then I couldn’t do them for a week as I was just really busy and didn’t want to rush them. Then I did them, sent in the videos and they were wrong, but I was then going on holiday for a week so I had to leave them, then tried again when I got home and still wrong so had to order more moulds for them (which came the next day and weren’t particularly expensive) and do it all again.

But yes, they arrived today and I am currently sat here in bed wearing them Smile

All good so far. I would definitely give it a try. Mine cost £130 I think which is soooo much better than £800!! Obviously it’s only 1 set and it is thinner plastic than my Invisalign retainers but I’ve still got my moulds as they sent them back with my retainers so I’ll probably order another set in the next 3-4 months and then I’ll have a spare!

@TheGreatFairyRescue Thank you, that is really useful to hear. My son’s last remaining retainer is disgustingly manky so we’ll try these.

That’s outrageous. I need new ones too, my sets have yellowed. But I’ll pass on that extortionate charge!
