Food poisoning days after

Hi,

I had suspected food poisoning early hours of Saturday morning (I ate chicken that had been left out and reheated it for only 30 seconds) anyway, I vomited just the once but had diarrhoea for around 12 hours.

I guess I’m just after some advice as I really struggle with health anxiety, since Saturday when it all stopped I’m still getting stomach cramps on and off which aren’t too severe but feel them, I feel really tired and a bit brain foggy I also cannot stand the smell of food and just want to eat crisps/bread.

is this normal or could it be something else? Has anyone felt the same 4/5 days after?

Lots of people seem to claim they have food poisoning when it is much more likely they have a stomach bug.

It sounds completely normal to me, OP. Hope you feel better soon.

Sounds more likely that it was a stomach bug, and yes, completely normal.

If you struggle with health anxiety, then you know that reassurance is the least helpful thing in your situation. You need to learn to sit with distress.

Food poisoning can occur even up to a week or two later. Without tests no one can say that’s what you’ve got though, treat it like any other bug- rest and fluids and avoid social spaces.

Yes, its normal. Even if it has worked its way through your system, you will be dehydrated, your stomach lining might be damaged and need time to recover and the good bugs in your system will need time to replenish. Get plenty of rest and fluids. Not sure how anyone here can say it's a bug not food poisoning and in any case the advice is the same for both

Also, food poisoning is just bugs in food - still a bug, just entering your system in a different way
