Neighbours using the visitor bays as their own?

New development - house opposite had a tandem drive big enough for 3 cars. However, as a household they appear to have 5 or 6.
There is a visitors bay big enough for 2 cars just outside and down from their drive. Since they’ve moved in, they have used this space every day. They reserve this. If only one car is home they will rotate to make sure that car is smack back in the middle of the visitor bay, preventing anyone even being able to share it. When they themselves have additional visitors, they move their cars into the other visitor bays around the estate so their friends or family can park on their drive. Essentially these bays are rarely free for any other residents to use for visitors.

If on the rare occasion it’s free we use it (we had workmen in and needed the drive free) the minute our car moves out, they park in it within minutes.

Is this common around new developments?

Have you a management company to raise it with? Do you pay a fee?

They sound like complete twats parking in the middle to stop anyone else having the second space.

But that part of it aside, if there are no rules around parking there, and it’s just effectively the equivalent of unrestricted on-street parking, then I doubt you can do anything about it.

Sadly some people are just selfish! When my brother and I both still lived at home we as a family had 4 cars but we all managed to park within. The confines of the width of our house so mum & dad on the drive and brother and I parked nose to nose on the road blocking the drive. Was a nuisance when mum or dad needed to get off the drive as we had to move but it kept the peace with the neighbours

We have a very similar issue and have just had to accept there’s nothing we can do about it, as a few people have spoken to them without success. Our neighbour is self employed - they have a huge van which takes up the whole drive, then take up the whole visitor parking area with a flatbed van, a mini digger on a trailer and their family car. There’s no room for anyone else as they treat it like an extension of their drive. Someone parked a van there once and they had the audacity to knock on doors to ask whose it was as he couldn’t park his own van there. No advice really, just sympathy as it’s infuriating.
