AIBU to hate the new Tena pads??

Helpmechooseausername · 30/04/2026 17:15

I've been using the normal size tena pads for ages but they've changed them and I'm wondering if anyone else thinks they're worse? They seem to be narrower than before so sometimes my pad is almost dry but my knickers are wet because my leakage has missed the pad!

Anyone else found this? Anyone got any recommendations for different pads that are wider?

Thanks!

Honestly, asking people whether they also find their knickers get wet because leakage misses the pad is a little off. Especially as you have posted in AIBU.

Doesn’t sound physically possible, but hey ho you’ve been reported.

Really? I'm astounded that people think it's bad of me to have asked this question! I put tena pads in the title, so that should have given you a clue as to what I'd be asking!
Apologies if I've offended anyone with my very genuine question.

Go onto incontinence choice website, the vivactive ones are good and they give sizes of the pads to compare with your current ones.

Unfortunately, over the years I have seen many instances on MN of men acting as if they are women on here, asking questions which feed some kind of fetish. That’s why I’m so wary.

Tbh, if you had put this in a different section it would have been much better. Why did you put it in AIBU? It’s not an aibu question and it just looks odd.

Thanks, that's helpful, I'll have a look x

I use the Always pads, and find them pretty good, @Helpmechooseausername, though they do sometimes crumple up somewhat - they are comfortable and do the job for me.

Thanks for explaining! I promise I'm not a man and don't have any weird festishes about wee! I very carefully didn't even use the word wee to try to keep the subject matter a little more discreet!

I put it in AIBU because I genuinely wanted to know if I was BU to hate the new pads. Didn't really know where else to put it. Shopping? Health and beauty? Dunno really! Some of the women's health boards don't get much traffic and I really need an answer!

Again, sorry if I offended anyone, that really wasn't my intention!

Thanks. I've tried them but preferred tena ones - but now they've changed so I'll see if the always ones are any better

I promise you it is physically possible! The pads are narrower than my knickers, so it can leak over the side.

I fully agree with the facility to report posts you think are inappropriate, but I really don't feel that this post was. I've seen many worse things on here over the years!

Oh stop it, you haven't "offended" anyone

The pull ups, like swim pants would be great for you.

Sheesh. Let’s hope you don’t develop incontinence issues!

OK, I’m finding myself getting involved here😆 I understand the leaking over the side. But not the missing the pad. Hence the suspicion/skepticism. Sorry if I sounded a bit blunt.

I wouldn’t have reported you btw. I mostly only report racism, ableism and a few other ism’s. And even then, very rarely.

Barcodescanner22 · 30/04/2026 20:04

Get some Tena washable knickers

GarlicMind · 30/04/2026 20:20

Also wading in 👀 to explain - when pads are narrower than your pants, the material can fold itself over the edges, leading to the described distribution error.

I use Vivactive disposable pants and I don't care who knows it. It's a medical need, not a lifestyle choice.

I don't know that I trust them! Also isn't it a pain to have to take shoes and trousers off to change them, rather than just changing a pad?

I wear cycle shorts over the top of my normal pants & Tena pad, it stops them moving around, I recommend Tena maxi night time pads, they are wider & longer than the normal ones, I wear Wirapa high waisted pants which have a wider gusset & their shorts over the top.

Yes!

I'll look into those pants, thanks
