DH had a few episodes of bleeding a few years ago which eventually stopped. FIT test was normal so they thought polyps.
He had the bleeding again this month. He had the FIT test and it is 130. We have just been given this result and it’s now the weekend. We have young children and are beside ourselves with worry. No other symptoms at all.

I know it's scary and unfortunately nobody is going to be able to put your mind completely at rest but try not to panic. The fit test only determines there's blood, not where it's coming from. It could be anywhere from your mouth to the bottom, including the stomach. If it's a stomach ulcer it's much easier to treat than bowels. For context I had numerous fit tests, had a very high calprotectin level but in the end after tests, I didn't have Crohn's. If there is anything bad going on, it's very treatable too and they are going to fast track him to diagnose the problem. I do get it though, it's bloody scary! 🫂

I have no medical training OP .

I just looked up what this rating could mean and the one thing that is very clear is that there are various possible explanations and it doesn't necessarily mean cancer.

It does mean your DH will have further investigation and that is a good thing. That he will be on the pathway to treatment.

It wouldn't be normal for you not to be worried but please try and hold onto the thought that even if this turns out to be what you fear treatment is available and successful when diagnosis is made at the early stages
