To have an OTT party?

Our daughter is 6 in a couple of weeks and we’re organising her party. We have an airbnb close to our house. We live on a reasonably urban setting so ours (and her friend’s) houses have smallish gardens. Lots of her friends have opted to have soft play centre parties which have worked well. We would like to have a party at the rural airbnb that we own which is about a 20mins drive away. It would make for a great party venue and we’d provide food etc and make the invite open to siblings. My concern is that people will find it a bit OTT… we live in the SE in a reasonably affluent area so people aren’t hard up. AIBU?

Why do you care?

Is your DD happy with it?

PoppinjayPolly · 22/04/2026 21:34

What’s ott about a party on your own property? Sounds fun!

ElfAndSafetyBored · 22/04/2026 21:35

Sounds great to me. Can’t see how it is OTT. It’s just a house party?

partygoparty · 22/04/2026 21:35

It’s not the house we live in, it’s an extra one. I just don’t want people to think we’re being a bit OTT. But maybe I’m overthinking it

It’s quite a big house and the garden is an acre. We all live in the city so obviously no one has that kind of space. That’s my worry.

Unless it's particularly difficult to get to, I can't see a problem with this. You're overthinking things

If you carry on like this, they're going to think you have delusions of grandeur! 🤣

It's just a house party.

If your child is happy that's all that matters.

Ok good. Seems I’m worrying for nothing! Thank you 🙏

It’s not difficult although obviously most parties are in the city we live in so it’s a drive.
