Does it get better after three? 😂

Tantrums, waking at night, tantrums, full on and … lovely as he is it’s just relentless.

Yes it does. In my experience:
4 is easier than 3
5 is easier than 4
My youngest is 7 and has been gradually getting easier as time goes by. We gradually ticked off the independence milestones e.g. going to the toilet alone, dressing themselves, washing themselves in the bath/shower. Then there is also the emotional development e.g. no longer randomly losing it because their biscuit broke in half, able to have proper conversations etc. But he's still adorable and cuddly, especially at bedtime.

My dd got progressively easier - including right through teenage years.

Absolutely OP. Hang in there.

3 was the worst so far. 4 is much better

It got harder for me. Had to wipe my own bum, walk everywhere instead of being pushed around, and it wasn't that long until I had to cut up my own pear!

Way way easier and more fun every year - 7 and 8 have been amazing

3 is still rough in its own ways, by 4 it’s much much easier and only gets better from there! Can’t speak for teenage years yet eek

edwinbear · 19/04/2026 18:13

3 was really tough, it was just constant exhaustion. Mine are 14 & 16 and whilst we don’t get the 5am wake ups and tantrums, you get the worry about exams, getting into uni, generally stuff you can’t fix for them. At 3, I could fix most problems for them, at 16 I can only really guide. I don’t miss the epic public tantrums though!

VanGoSunflowers · 19/04/2026 18:17

Absolutely yes! Three was horrendous! As soon as he turned 4 he got easier and every age since then has been my favourite. He will be 9 this year.

Hmm, I don't think it gets easier, you just get better at dealing with it. We are now in the early teens and it's just has hard as ever only doubly expensive!
