Sometimes rage can be your friend

I don’t mean acting out or hurting anyone. I mean that feeling anger or rage can sometimes be a useful signal - that a boundary’s been crossed, something’s unfair or that you’ve been tolerating too much. In my experience, noticing that feeling (and then responding calmly) has sometimes helped me make changes I probably wouldn’t have made otherwise. But I know anger is often framed as something purely negative, especially for women.

AIBU to think it can sometimes be useful rather than something to suppress?

Do you have a personal example that has driven you to start the thread?

I’d guess so but if it’s regular then definitely no. Too much rage about now

Rage and anger can provide impetus and energy to make things happen.

All very useful in the right context.

Sometimes if a relationship hasn't worked out I try to get angry and that helps me through. Like thinking what a cheeky btard treating me like that. That's where anger helps me.

Rage has helped me tremendously this weekend. Things that needed saying for a long time finally got said and I feel like a new person
