I think I’m a bit obsessed with washing, myself I mean not laundry.

I have quite oily skin and very fine greasy hair. When I get up in a morning I feel gross. On a work day I get up early, bath and wash my hair every single day. I can’t imagine going in without doing this as I’d sit feeling gross all day.

On weekends I am more relaxed as I tend to chill at home or just go for a dog walk/gym first thing so I don’t need to wash immediately. But I always have to do it when I get in and if I am going ‘out’ I don’t feel put together or ready for the day without a bath, hair wash and make up done first.

I don’t think it’s actually about how I look. I’m past caring how I appear to others. It’s how I feel within myself. Without washing I feel greasy, oily and smelly and just not ready for the day. However it does take up so much time and I wish I could be more at ease with just going out and not feeling gross. I use dry shampoo which does make my hair look better but again, I feel grim within myself, is anyone else like this?

I shower every morning and wash my hair then have a bath in the evening before I put pjs on- I like to feel fresh

Everlil · 14/04/2026 23:10

Don’t most people wash every day?!

Loulou4022 · 14/04/2026 23:12

Often the more you wash your hair the greasier it can become also oily skin can be down to using harsh products or overwashing

ohyesohyesoh · 14/04/2026 23:15

I shower everyday. I don’t feel the need to shower or bathe twice daily tho. If I was doing something strenuous and sweaty then yes. But not if I’ve just been sat at a desk all day

frostseal · 14/04/2026 23:16

I have dry hair so don't wash it daily rather every other day. My skin is more oily but it gets worse, more spotty if I over cleanse so I tend to only cleanse in the evening but it depends on how I feel and what skincare I'm doing. Ideally I'd like to shower in the am and have a bath every night to relax but in reality I shower most mornings and then have a couple of evening baths a week.

Whatifitallgoesright · 14/04/2026 23:16

This sounds a perfectly normal level of washing. Something else is going on here if your feelings of 'grossness' are so strong - like a distacefulness psychologically?

BauhausOfEliott · 14/04/2026 23:18

This is normal, surely?

Niftywigglesheep · 14/04/2026 23:20

Totally normal? I thought everyone showers before work and before nights out? I also relax on weekends if I’m not sound people but yeah I think that’s what everyone does?

ToKittyornottoKitty · 14/04/2026 23:22

Bath every morning sounds like a hassle but a shower is normal. When are you using dry shampoo if you wash your hair every day? Your hair would do better if you didn’t wash it every day

PinkNailPolish2026 · 14/04/2026 23:24

I have very thick hair but it gets greasy by the end of the day. I’ve tried leaving it longer between washes but I feel filthy after day 2 and my scalp itches. I shower every morning and wash my hair otherwise I don’t feel clean. I’ve tried dry shampoo and don’t feel clean after using it. I have a bath at night as I can’t sleep otherwise. It’s normal to shower/bathe every day imo.

Troutbag · 14/04/2026 23:24

I shower every morning, and wash my hair every day. I think that’s fairly normal isn’t it? I can’t imagine not having a shower.

JillyComeLately · 14/04/2026 23:25

I have the odd day, if I am not going out or expecting visitors, when I won't bath or shower, and I only wash my hair twice a week because it's very thick and quite long, but I don't think bathing or showering every day is extreme.

Treess · 14/04/2026 23:34

I shower every morning and every night.

etwalla · 15/04/2026 10:21

I know showering daily is normal. I think I’m more referring to the mental side of it, like without being clean and fully ready to go out I just don’t feel right.

We all shower to feel clean. Not really sure why you think it’s rare

Idontjetwashthefucker · 15/04/2026 10:34

Yeah that's pretty normal, I shower though as I don't like baths, but I'd never go out of the house without showering and washing my hair.. whether to go to work or out shopping or a social occasion

ToffeeCrabApple · 15/04/2026 11:04

Not everyone's hair is the same. Mine goes frizzy and dry if I wash it two days running. If I wash it daily for a while it starts going nuts and crazy greasy.

I think most people wash on a daily basis. Over washing you are stripping away all the natural oils that protect your skin and hair.
