They got their first boyfriend/girlfriend? Ds is 14 and to my knowledge has no interest in girls. Don’t think he has so much as kissed a girl. I sometimes ask if there’s anyone he’s interested in and he says no he doesn’t like any of the girls at his school.

This isn’t a problem to me of course. The longer he’s like this the better in my eyes! I’m just curious as there seems to be such a huge spectrum at this age. Many of his friends have had multiple ‘relationships’ and some have even had sex already. I know at that age I was very interested in boys.

Like I said, I really don’t care and am not worried but I just wondered when it happened for other dc.

DD was 16. Still together. She was his 2nd girlfriend.
I do sometimes wonder what the odds are for them making it and staying together

If he has never shown any interest in girls why do you assume it would be a girl he would be interested in?

DS had first proper girlfriend at 15. DD is 20 and not had one yet, and only one of her friends has a BF.

Mine are slightly older than your DC, and their friends tend to be one of two types—friends who haven’t ever dated, and friends who consistently go from one relationship to another, to another, without much space between relationships.

Ds1 had his first proper girlfriend at 15 and they were together for 2 years. Ds2 had his first girlfriend at 18, bad they are still together 3 years later.

One is 18 and hasn't had one yet the other is 16 and had her first boyfriend at 14 and has had a few since then.

Maybe he likes a boy?
I think probably all 14 year olds do have crushes, but I think having a boyfriend/ girlfriend is probably less than half!

My DS is also 13 and not showing the slightest interest ( he is at a boys school so not sure if that make a difference, he does mix with girls at clubs).
I remember when I was that age everyone was talking about boys and a few claimed to have had sex, so I pretended I fancied boys too ( I was about 16 before I was actually interested). When I grew up I realised at lot of them were probably pretending too.
