Dealing with travel "anticipation"

Big holiday of a life time..setting off tomorrow. How do you manage to feel excited rather than worried.

I feel very cross with myself, dicky tummy, not sleeping great, spent last few days organising.

I so want to be a cool calm and collected traveller ..I know it's going to be amazing when we get there but it just feels like the stakes are high and so much I can't control.

What are your tips? Make me enjoy today!

What you need is an acceptance that whatever happens (bad shit), you will deal with it then... you have your passport, wallet, and phone - everything else you can find, source or sort.

Anxiety is worry about what could - if you keep shutting down the voice, it loses its volume.

what if we forget X - doesnt matter, ill deal with it then

You have half the battle - you know there are things outside your control; so you bat them off right away. You cant impact something then forget about it. If you can impact something then do whatever you need to do (make a list, check it twice type stuff)

And enjoy your trip.

@toomuchfaff You're completely right, thank you. Everything is sortable. I've just done some exercise and I going to have relaxing, sunny bath and listen to a podcast. Husband has started packing..and focusing...he needs to be in "stretch" apparently.

@Ablondiebutagoody "High stakes" ...a turn of phrase only. In the grand scheme of things my holiday not important to anyone else, but spent a lot of time and energy planning and saved up for a long long time. Guess we just want everything to go well.😊
