To give up?

I’m 39, I have older kids (17, 13). Their dad isn’t involved and hasn’t been since eldest was 6.

had one horrible relationship for 3 years with a narcissist (I know that word is thrown around, but yes I’m qualified to say it lol). Got out of that, intense therapy and healed.

met someone about 2.5 years later, was together a couple of months and thought it was perfect til he ended it saying he wasn’t ready (he was younger, 35)

the dating sites are full of men who “aren’t ready” or “want to see where it goes” or just want casual sex

i live pay check to pay check so I have no money for hobbies or going out (I budget to the penny!)

I feel like I’m too old to meet someone and get married

should I give up? Or settle for whatever is left?

I have an otherwise fulfilling life, good friends but they’ve all settled down so understandably don’t see them much. Good career, great kids but they have their own lives now and I’m lonely

ad much as I enjoy my own company I do miss the company

Maybe take a break for a bit? But don't close it off completely - stay open to possibilities.

Reservists or St John's Ambulance could be good things to do if you're low on cash for hobbies.
