To consider going to Asia in August?

Is it too hot/wet? Want to do something like Shangai, Japan, Singapore and Thailand visiting Disney/Universal parks.
Done Orlando so much and always in August so used to heat and rain but is it worse in Asia?

Your best bet is to look up the climate for each of the places you’re specifically interested in visiting. Different areas, that are relatively close to each other have Monsoon season at different times

For example I’ve been to Koh Samui in August with the family and the weather was fantastic - plenty warm enough to enjoy it, without the 40 degree heat that Europe was suffering at the time. However, Phuket and the Phi Phi islands off the East Coast of Thailand would have been rainy season at that point.

We have also done plenty of long layovers in Singapore in late July/August, and don’t remember having any monsoon type weather and been able to do sightseeing

Thanks. I've tried to look it up but it's very vague. Another option would be to go from 8th July but not sure if that would make a huge amount of difference!

summer in Japan is incredibly humid and you’ll need bath towels and plenty of changes of clothes for one day, it’s that bad. Depends if you’re ok with that

We have done Koh Samui in August and Borneo/Penang in August, perfect time of year for those destinations

Singapore’s near the equator so pretty similar all year round really. A few more storms when you’d be there. We used to go every year, as DH was working there, and it was always quite pleasant, you acclimatise pretty quickly.

Go to Bali or Sri Lanka in the summer

I’ve loved Thailand Malaysia and Singapore in August twice but prepare there is a downpour of rain for about 30 mins most days

I used to live in China and Shanghai would not be my first choice for an August holiday. Chinese schools are still on holiday then so Disney will be packed.
The heat and humidity in Japan can also be very debilitating. I lived in one of the hottest places in China with summer temperatures of high thirties to 40 and still found summer in Japan pretty unpleasant.

If you plan to stay indoors most of the time you’ll be fine as there are AC everywhere. Otherwise you’ll be waiting in huge queues if you’re going to Disneyland. People do it as they’re used to the extreme heat, but I would rather go to Japan in the spring/winter. Autumn is beautiful too but September and October will still be quite hot for my liking

I had no option in my timing for visiting Japan and Seoul in August 3 years ago, due to a gap in employment that gave a generous time lapse and can only state that for my sanity and coping mechanisms to accept that from stepping out of the hotel door I was going to sweat rivers from every pore on my body, my clothes were soaked!

It didn’t stop me doing anything, but at a much slower pace, I have travelled the world and the word “oppressive: was muttered more than once.
