Post meno, boobs got much bigger and I hate it

It’s a first world problem but it’s getting me down. Late 50s, post meno, prob about 8lbs overweight but do a lot of strength work and heavy weights several times a week, plus some cardio and regular walking, lots of clean eating AND I still hate my body.

especially my growing boobs! Always biggish, now feel really big. And it’s getting me down. Hate how I look in tops

but I can’t seem to lose weight! But if I do, would it make a difference to my breast size?

sorry, a bit of a rubbish post

Inspired by this thread I bought myself a minimiser bra from M&S today. Oh my goodness what a difference. I actually felt neat and not so pillowy in my top for the first time in a decade today.

I don't know why I didn't think of it before. I sort of thought it wouldn't make any difference but it really does.

Can I ask if it pushes the tissue out to the sides? I’m keen to minimise but I have side-boobs shape enough as it is. Could you share which one it is please?

Crikeyalmightey · 01/04/2026 14:44

Also big boobs, I tried a minimiser bra, but they do push them to the sides. So ended up not so much big in front looking side on, but wider and flatter looking straight on. Sort of matronly. 😒 I suppose it depends on what size you are. And what you want to wear. I get a better minimised effect from wearing a firm sports bra. And thats with a bit of a monoboob . 😳

I have the side tissue thing too. Lord knows where it all came from.

It has quite wide sides that seem to gather it all in. Definitely better than the bras I have been wearing.

It's this one. Plain and simple and seems to do the job. £18.

I can't wear sports bras because they seem to hurt my shoulders and neck.
Do you get that problem at all and if not what sports bra do you buy please?

Ninerainbows · 01/04/2026 18:48

Mine have gone up a size a decade. I was a 32E in my early 20s and I am now a 32FF 20 years later. I don't need them any bigger!!

I got a two pack one black/one white from M&S, a while ago. Actually, I think they were "medium" rather than "firm" which do tend to make shoulders ache. I find the racer back ones better, if can find in right size. Definitely need to try on a few different ones. Shock Absorber sports bras are another good one they used to be in nicer, cooler fabric.

Scruffysquirrels · 01/04/2026 19:03

I've always had a very small bust and been very happy with that. Never had any hankering for bigger boobs. Mine are also bigger post menopause, swollen and sore, like in the days before your period. Is that usual? My periods have stopped in the last 6 months. No HRT.

Interesting that so many confirm this. My GP was adamant HRT doesn't cause boob and weight gain, but it did for me. Pillowy is the exact word. Gone off it now and boobs shrunk.

Estrogen definitely makes breasts bigger.

Crikeyalmightey · 01/04/2026 19:11

Just googled Shock Absorber, they were bought by Champion. Don't know if they are still as good. I bought them for years then couldn't find. Hope you find something, anyway. It's a real problem finding decent bras for bigger boobs! 🤯👙

IME the Shock Absorber bras are the same style but much poorer quality since Champion bought them. I have 6 yo ones in better condition than the ones I bought last year.

If anyone has a good alternative I'd love to hear it because they're still very expensive.

Enshittification everywhere. Even underwear.

Iizzyb · 01/04/2026 19:21

does anyone remember Les Dawson Cissy & Ada? That’s how I sometimes feel. I was a 30F forever… a 32 something a lot more than F now (not fun)

OMG yes like that exactly!

RaraRachael · 01/04/2026 19:29

I wasn't on HRT but mine went from 36B to 36GG.
I absolutely hate them as there are so many clothes I can't wear now.
