Plum money app query

moonstarsuns · 27/03/2026 19:02

So I joined plum app to save money on the advice of my friend, and I set it up linked with my card/bank account.. however it kept taking money out every other day and leaving me withdrawn and I then had to wait a couple days to withdraw it from my pocket and into the bank..

I asked the customer service if they can prevent me and their answer was below.. does this mean that no money will exit my bank now and it’ll just go straight to my pocket instead? Thanks

Hello xxxxxx Thank you for reaching out. If you want Plum to stop putting money aside automatically, just toggle the rules off from the Brain. To do so, please open the app, tap 'Brain'. Under 'Rules' you will find all the active rules and from there you can toggle them OFF. Please bear in mind that this will not affect current pending deposits but no new ones will be made. Hope this is clear! Can I help with anything else?

No because it's up to you to make the changes. They've given instructions on what to do, but you haven't said that you've followed them.

They’ve sent me the below, so does this mean I can still save using the app?

I can confirm that I have disabled all your automatic deposits for the future. May I help you with anything else?

There's a setting to not take money to make you overdrawn, not sure where it is, took me a little while to get all my settings right but been great after I spent some time getting it set up - good luck!

I love Plum, I've saved loads!

Definitely explore the settings on the app - if you've got it set to round up (the cost of your purchases) you can set how aggressively you want it to do this; you can also set up regular deposits of a set amount, and then choose where you want the money to go - into main pocket, savings or investments.

You can save again by toggling a particular rule on again and deciding what to want the rule to do, and how often. It's only as good as you set it to be. If you're struggling with the rules then maybe an account that "rounds up" purchases might be more helpful to you?

I had this too when I first set it up!

You need to go and check all the rules you’ve set up, and get to a point that’s a good balance for you, I also kept during up overdrawn which wasn’t much use tbh, but I’ve got it sorted now.

Go into the App and check all the settings you have against deposits.
