Wages have barely moved since 2008 when all the banks started printing money, since then we've had covid and brexit, now we've got a false flag war/oil crisis, so all in all working looks like a mug's game for most, just running to catch up. Labour keeps saying that the money's gone but aren't doing anything to get it back. Blatantly obvious that money doesn't just disappear, also blatantly obvious that they don't have the cojones to demand its return.

We've lived and worked through all this crap, and now we're running around trying to find petrol stations that still have petrol, swallowing yet another council tax hike that won't even touch the sides of the social care bill that successive governments have utterly failed to deal with.

And in the midst of all this, my mum has dementia, it's going to kill her in the next few years, she'll die with £23,500 to her name, after a lifetime of working and paying tax, while I use my power of attorney to empty her account of everything else, to pay for care that she needs because of her illness, and I'll spend those years filling in the many gaps in care myself, because that's what happens in a country as bereft of values, decency and any notion of the need for dignity for its citizens as the UK now is.

I can't be the only one who thinks this is all crap. Wtf is going on here? Why are things so very shit?

Oh OP. That fucking sucks. I'm so sorry about your mum.

I was wondering what you meant by falsw flag war, do you mean started on insufficient grounds by US/Israel? If so I do agree. I was terrified when it kicked off, but have become so desensitised to it already, it's so weird.

Morriba · 24/03/2026 22:51

Yes, exactly that. Trump, crashing bore that he is, to my mind is trying to engineer an oil crisis in order to boost the dollar, because oil producing countries will always get good kickback from an oil crisis. And the dollar was weak before all this. I think that's why we don't feel any real sense of danger - there is no danger. For us, anyway.

Thanks for your thoughts about my mum, bless her.

Yep, its crap.

Tel12 · 24/03/2026 23:28

I'm afraid it hasn't started yet.

Bristolandlazy · 24/03/2026 23:30

I say that to my daughters, it's getting worse. Your poor mum, that sucks for both of you and your families.

JollyBlue · 24/03/2026 23:37

As a 23 year old it feels like there’s very little left for us. We are constantly on the bones of our arse. Barely any room for career growth in jobs. School asking for money, costumes, donations constantly. House prices, rent and energy prices are astronomical. Clothing and food is sky high. I often think about how we are going to manage for another 40 years and if we’ll even end up with anything to live off of after all the hard work, or even any years left to live when the retirement age keeps climbing.

Morriba · 24/03/2026 23:49

Oh sweetheart I hear you. It's so hard for you young folk. Us oldies at least have already bought all the stuff we need for ourselves - you poor scraps are still at the bare bones stage. It took me time to get past that, and that was when the economy was still on the up. I'm so sorry.

I will reiterate though, that that money gone from public spending from 2008 onwards, it isn't "gone", as such. Money doesn't vanish into thin air. It's sat in global accounts somewhere but owned by people maybe five, ten, fifteen miles from where each of us is sitting. We need to get it back. We need to pressure this lackadaisical government to actually go hunting and get us our dues. It won't solve the long term ultimate European decline (which is more to do with demographics than anything else) but it will surely make for a softer landing.

I keep seeing stuff about energy lockdowns and fuel restrictions. Food is going to go up, can hardly afford it now. I've stocked up on cat food from my savings. They need specialist diets so I can't not buy them it and switch to cheaper. We have emergency power and water provision. Crap alone knows what's in the pipeline (not oil).

SnappyOchre · 25/03/2026 00:53

What is this missing money you keep referring to so cryptically?

Morriba · 25/03/2026 00:57

Asset hoarding and multi layered corporate fictions.

It is only going to get worse, as climate change increases and people from water short areas are forced to migrate to areas with water, causing greater pressure on resources and social conflict.

Pressure on areas where climate change damages crops.

Rebounding of Earth crust when ice caps melt will have a huge effect on plate tectonics. Areas of tectonic activity will be at risk, as well as causing secondary issues such as tsunamis.

Stress on the gulf stream and other oceanic current belts will have a direct impact on our weather systems.

Resource rich areas protecting their assets will cause greater conflict.

Social fabric is fraying, communities are fragmenting, people are already reacting. There is a simmering of anger.

Shoplifting going through the roof. Road rage, cocaine production and distribution normalised by middle-class middle-age entitled cunts who dont give a crap about the trail of devastation and abuse left in the wake of their nose hits.

Womens rights are going backwards, this happens when humans are faced with hardships, conflict and discord. We become possessions, a resource. The indoctrination, internalisation and mobilasation of the manosphere.

Breakdown of infrastructure, breakdown of public services, schools, hospitals, police, fire services.

The poisoning of the environment, having an effect on all lifeforms.

Sperm rates dropping through the floor due to oestrogen like compounds found in plastic entering all water supplies, lakes, rivers, aquifers, effecting all life animals, birds, fish and human animals.

It is shit op, really fucking shit.

Goodadvice1980 · 25/03/2026 17:12

Sorry to read about your mum OP 😢 as her needs are health related does the NHS fund any care?

ExpressCheckout · 25/03/2026 17:21

Brexit/Reform supporters might like to know that your decision to leave the EU is now costing us £65-90 billion/year.

That's equivalent to the entire education budget, or NHS funding for 4-5 months, or defence spending twice over. Thanks!
