What is going on with my vulva?! Twitching

Timenekr · 23/03/2026 11:23

One side of my vulva seems to be twitching or vibrating, I don’t even know how to describe it. It’s not constant, maybe every 5-10 mins for a few seconds. It’s not painful but feels like something is moving there and it isn’t.

I have done a brief google but can’t seem to get a definite answer. Starting to feel worried, has anyone had this?

Perhaps book an appointment with the sexual health clinic or call your GP. Best way to alleviate your stress.

PTSDBarbiegirl · 23/03/2026 13:39

Could it be vagus nerve?

Gettingbysomehow · 23/03/2026 13:42

I would thought its just a nerve jumping. I get one in my leg that does that.

@FieryA I can’t imagine it’s a sexual health thing only as I’ve been single a long time and had a screen after my ex. I will call the gp if it continues!

@PTSDBarbiegirl @Gettingbysomehow I thought maybe nerve from what I’ve read online but then it says stuff about links to menopause etc and that’s made me worried

I had this once at the beginning of a urine infection...

@Nubbynubby really?! I’m meant to be getting on a plane tomorrow long haul. Did you have other symptoms? Wondering if I need to get checked asap now but not sure there’s time!

How old are you? GSM or VA?

AnAussieMum · 23/03/2026 14:21

I have had the exact same thing
it went away after about a day
I google it too and couldn’t come up with anything it was so strange

nogainjustpain · 23/03/2026 14:21

I had this when I first started on HRT and progesterone! It would just weirdly pulse randomly, not in a fanny gallops way. It settled down after a couple of months. Anything like that for you?

@nogainjustpain yeah it’s not like a nice feeling or a horrible feeling it’s just a twitching. It’s only on one side though. I feel really stressed as I would love another dc and currently single

@AnAussieMum it’s been almost two days now I am so worried it’s menopause

I have this from time to time, it lasts a day or so then goes away. I Googled it and didn't find anything too worrying and assume it's a bit like when I get a twitch in my eyelid

At the time I didn't have any other symptoms.
Might it be worth going to a pharmacist? I'm pretty sure some of them can test urine and give you antibiotics if necessary. Would probably be easier than seeing a GP and might put your mind at rest.
It might be absolutely nothing, though. Might just be random nerve twitching like you sometimes get (well I do) in your face or some other body part.

Lennonjingles · 23/03/2026 14:39

I’m in my 60’s, obviously post menopause and I get this twitching occasionally, I think it’s just my body just telling me there’s life down there, don’t know what sets it off, but presume nerves of some sort.
