Anti Vaxxers

To get frustrated at anti vaxxers on Facebook. I don't specifically follow them but obviously there is a lot of news on there about meningitis at the moment. I know some are bots but there are people with their own children in their profile picture laughing at comments about the youngsters that have died so far and bragging that their children won't be getting the jab. Laughing at people who are vaccinated calling them ""jabbers" and "sheep" Why can't people just live and let live? Why does it have to be name calling and laughing at those with different views like an infant school playground and laughing at grieving families?. I don't think meningitis or people dying are a laughing matter. What is wrong with people?. I do click on not interested so I see less of this subject but I am just saddened by the behaviour of so called adults, who are essentially piggybacking off the very people they mock who vaccinate their children!.

People are laughing about the deaths?

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 18/03/2026 16:38

Because that’s what people do. They attack people with different beliefs.

We see it all of the time with homophobia/transphobia (called the woke agenda) and religion (called brainwashing).

People can be incredibly vocal about their opinions. You just need to ignore them.

OriginalSkang · 18/03/2026 16:38

I think this is the issue with any social media. You get to see people you'd never me involved with in real life

Just never read the comments on anything! It's always depressing

People are laughing about the deaths?

Yes honestly. People are commenting saying have some respect for those who have died and the families who may see this and people are replying with the laughing emoji. It's shameful

I am clicking not interested in anything to do with it so my newsfeed changes and just being glad I'm not one of them.

Some people are just terrible, nasty people. Unfortunately, the internet makes them more visible. I think attention from others is exactly what they want and so I would completely ignore them.

Eightdayz · 18/03/2026 17:04

One of the many reasons to disregard the cesspool that is Facebook.

Cleops · 18/03/2026 17:08

It's not limited to anti vaxxers really though.. whatever subject will have similar these days

worldshottestmom · 18/03/2026 19:31

I think its interesting you took offence to them labelling people who choose to get vaccinated, when your post title is a term used to label people who choose not to get vaccinated. I see anti-vaxxer used as an insult all the time.

I agree it should be people's choice whether to get vaccinated or not, which it is, and agree everyone should just live and let live. The "my body my choice" argument goes straight out the window the second vaccination is brought up. Its very telling.

I dont see why anyone would be laughing at the loss of life. Anybody with any given perspective that does this, especially at an innocent child losing their life, need to have their heads checked out.

dizzydizzydizzy · 18/03/2026 19:40

Anti-vaxxers have done a lot or damage. There are still lots of people who believe that the MMR causes autism, even though Andrew Wakefield’s research on this was found to be fraudulent about 25 years ago.

3678194b · 18/03/2026 19:42

Yes I've seen that too. I don't see what's amusing about the current situation or how anyone can be so vile about people being seriously ill or dying.

It's not just one or two people who have 'laughed' on posts too, sometimes it's quite a sizeable amount, so unlikely they are all a mistake.

gamerchick · 18/03/2026 19:47

Batties · 18/03/2026 16:38

People are laughing about the deaths?

Yeah, virusus don't exist apparently. It's just your body doing a detox. Even though the meningitis is bacterial. Then it's memes about project Pegasus and it's all bullshit. Government agenda.

They're entertaining to troll but sometimes it's better for the blood pressure to just swerve the comment section.

I think anti vaxxers are a sandwich short of a picnic but people have to take responsibility for making their own decisions

People have brains so need to exercise them more

There are a lot of very unpleasant people in this world who choose to share their unpleasantness on social media. This is one of the main reasons I no longer use Facebook, Instagram, X etc. I don’t want to see it, hear it or read it. As for anti-vaxxers (the ones who believe a load of twaddle they’ve seen on YouTube and TikTok) well they call people sheep not realising that they’re just sheep from a different herd.

3678194b · 18/03/2026 20:10

I've just this moment seen a post on FB.

'Liked' by 66 people, care emoji by 13 people. Worryingly, 65 people have put a laughing face and one angry.

I wasn't using anti vaxxer as a derogatory term. I've seen people refer to themselves as Anti Vaxxers.

Divebar2021 · 18/03/2026 22:31

Anti vaxx is not in itself a derogatory term… people may speak about it in derogatory terms like saying “ Reform” voter but that’s doesn’t mean the label is itself bad.) I’d argue they’re all as thick as mince. ). I think
if you ever find yourself getting sucked into an argument with them just ask yourself if it’s worth your time and effort.

( I’m also slightly confused by the argument because my understanding was that young people who died were not vaccinated ? I can see if they died as a result of the vaccination that there would be a point to make but dying of the illness itself doesn’t seem to strengthen the anti vaxx position. )

MrThorpeHazell · 19/03/2026 08:32

Because all anti-vaxxers - NO exceptions - are moronic half-wits and there is no point in talking to stupid.

Ignore them. They are not worth a moment of your time.

TimeFlysWhenYoureHavingRum · 19/03/2026 08:42

I deleted facebook and twitter years ago because of this sort of thing. Best thing I ever did.

Yes - but unvaccinated children pose a danger to children too young or too ill to be vaccinated. And of course these idiots risk the safety of their own DC. I’ve had quite a few students over the years take up vaccination catch up opportunities at university. I always remind them at induction that they are adults and can make their own decisions now. If they disagree with their parents’ views they can act in their own best interests.

Jom222 · 19/03/2026 13:09

they mock others bc they're insecure and deep down they know they're wrong but can't admit it so resort to insults.

Its annoying but the scary part is how their indifference endangers the rest of the community they live in.

Cheese55 · 19/03/2026 13:22

The kent outbreak is nothing to do with anti vax's. No 18 yr old has been vaxxed because they only started Men B vax 11 ish years ago

twentyeightfishinthepond · 19/03/2026 16:36

Well they’re queuing up for vaccinations in Kent now, quite rightly, so they at least aren’t troubled by conspiracy theorists.

youalright · 19/03/2026 16:42

Yanbu i can't stand people like this and I don't think half of them are even anti vaxxers i think they are rage baiters but I don't think they realise the damage they are doing and how stupid and gullible people are. I remember having an argument with someone during covid about masks and how they wouldn't wear one and didn't care if people died etc i looked at their facebook photos which showed a photo of him wearing a mask he was just shit stirring and winding people up and it worked
